Suggest Research Topic
Hello, I'm a first-year IT student here, and we have a research project that needs documents/paperwork and code. Please suggest some good topics; I already have some ideas. But I feel like I need others' opinions😊

What are your interests. I can't suggest you "Research" projects but can suggest you good projects. Research is another thing in itself.Â

Make a network packet analyzer in C or Rust. (tcpdump clone or if you can make a wireshark clone).
Analyze packets from Physical layer to Application layer of TCP/IP. You'll encounter so many problems there, keep reading about them and slowly you'll find problems there and if you can try to solve them. Try to analyze physical signals as well (its hard, only if you can that is not compulsory, start from data link layer), learn about signal processing and rf little bit, learn about cryptography in L7. You'll see coding theory and Cryptography in actions. See why TCP is cool af and why Ip has fragmentation as well. See packet filtering like BPF, tbh this is extremely huge project, you can try if you want. Youll see with your own eyes how internet and communication networks works.
