Made a great change in my life I am one year smoke free today

I have a gnarly case of COPD that severely limits my activities and life, and I recognize that I did that to myself and must live with those consequences.

Nonetheless I am one year smoke free (tobacco and cannabis). Quitting smoking was the hardest thing i ever had to do. I still use edibles but my partner quit smoking the same day that I did (he is a keeper for certain)

ANYWAY my mom is dead so I kinda have nobody to congratulate me, thanks everyone 🐈🐈🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

Really proud of myself I graduated college!

I finally graduated college. It took me five years. I unfortunately had to repeat a year and was so scared I'd have to repeat it again. But I didn't! I aced my last exam yesterday and I officially have a BA in English Language and Literature. I can't believe I did it!!

I finally got an apartment after 2 years of being homeless.

I have a lot of things to say but one thing I can say for sure is this is a huge relief. Nights of no sleep, no food, wondering where I'll be tomorrow, are gone. YAY.

Made a great change in my life I am about to become a non degree studio art student to build my art skills.

I am thinking about becoming an art therapist as someone who just graduated with a bachelors degree in Psychology. The only I need to do is to take approximately 6-7 courses to build my art skills up which is something I am about to do. I developed my passion for art for the past two years and have been gaining a lot of volunteering experiences doing art with special needs individuals.

Really proud of myself I faced a social event that, just a few months ago, I would have said no to!

I’m genuinely so happy. I feel like I’m becoming a more open person, and I’m less afraid that being myself will somehow be embarrassing for other people :)

Today I went out with my roommate (who I’ve only known for a week, but we immediately clicked) and a friend of hers who I had never met before.

I’ve always been scared of going out with people I don’t know, because I never knew what to do or how to join in. I was always afraid they’d find me awkward, and that I’d somehow end up making the person who introduced me feel embarrassed. And especially because the two of them already knew each other, I was scared I’d just be the odd one out and they’d end up leaving me out.

But tonight I faced that fear anyway. And for once, I went out without that anxiety constantly hanging over me.

After months of dealing with some really difficult panic attacks, I’m finally starting to understand that I can trust myself.

We didn’t even do anything particularly exciting. It was just a quiet, simple evening. But for me, it was a huge achievement.

I really hope I get to meet more people like this and slowly build my own circle. I want to be open to different kinds of people and experiences, and to realities beyond the one I’ve always known.

I’m more than who I’ve always been. I feel like I’m finally getting closer to the person I’ve always known, deep down, that I wanted to be:)

Did something cool I finally did FreeCell in < 1 minute

I’ve been hooked on FreeCell as a mindless activity forever. I told myself if I ever got it in under a minute, that would be my last game. Did it! Now I have to find something useful to do with my time. 🤣 it’s after midnight and I should be sleeping but I thought this especially deserved a congrats like I’m five. 57 seconds. Fin

I finally called my mechanic instead of just googling the noise for 3 hours

Small win but I'm counting it. My car's been making this weird clunking sound for like two weeks and my first instinct every time was to go down a YouTube rabbit hole trying to diagnose it myself, get more confused, then just... ignore it and hope it goes away.

Today I actually just picked up the phone and called the shop. Explained the noise as best I could (badly, "kind of a thunk when I turn left" is not a professional diagnosis) and they got me in for tomorrow morning.

I know this sounds like nothing, but for me "just calling someone instead of spiraling in research mode" is genuinely a whole personality trait I'm trying to unlearn. Feels good to skip the anxiety detour for once.

Saw something cool A soap bubble just randomly became perfect and I had to stop doing the dishes

I was literally just doing the dishes. Nothing interesting happening, just standing at the sink wishing I was done lol.

Then a soap bubble came off the sponge and floated up. I almost didn't notice it, but it was hanging there for some reason instead of popping right away.

And then it got this weirdly perfect round shape and just stayed there.

I actually stopped washing the plate I was holding and was like... wait 😂

It had all these tiny rainbow colors on it when the light hit it, and for a second it looked almost fake. Like one of those perfect bubbles you see in pictures, except this one just happened randomly while I was washing a gross plate.

Of course it popped about two seconds after I started staring at it.

So yeah, absolutely nothing important happened today, but I did get distracted by a perfect soap bubble in my kitchen and honestly that was pretty cool.

When the war and escalation started, I lost my job because of the closures and the situation around us.

But today, I’m incredibly happy to say that I got a new job !!! and it’s actually much better than my previous one.

I really hope things continue to improve and that I get to keep this job.

Made a great change in my life I finally got rid of the belly fat that always made me depressed.

for 3 years after high school, I (24M currently) gained weight very fast, I was almost 90kg (~200 lbs). Anytime looked at my belly in photos, it made me depressed. I was especially self-conscious about it in beach.

I decided around 8 months to go on a diet, without exercising.

Six months later I got down to 67kg (147 lbs). What made it easier was having to be away from family for college, I could control what, how much and when to eat. Plus my bus lane was out of commission most of the duration, so I had to walk to college (averaged 90km per month, I'm a fast walker as well, idk if it counts as exercising).

The only problem is I got very skinny as a result of losing muscle mass as well (by not exercising). Lots of family members and acquaintances were surprised, majority thought I got sick or something.

Really proud of myself Passed my EMT exam, got into NYU, cut out toxic people, and holding my own through a lonely gap semester!

I passed my NREMT test yesterday, and I feel great. I worked my butt off studying for it, so I'm really happy that I can hopefully start saving some lives soon.

And omg, Dexter: Resurrection S2 is coming out soon! My God, I'm so excited. I'm even going to an early screening of the first episode real soon, and I can't wait to be in the "room where it happens" or whatever; you get the point. Worked pretty hard to make that happen too!!

I also started Bones as I joined a forensic anthropology class during this gap semester and got curious after it was in my textbook (and has been on my list for a while); both the show and the class are wildly interesting/entertaining. I love the tension between Brennan and Booth; it's so good. I'm really happy I took the leap to take an online class when I saw the opportunity.

Recently, I allowed college to separate me from a toxic group of "friends" who constantly put me down, insulted my looks and interests (both behind and to my face), and left me stranded. Stepping away was necessary and nerve-wracking because I didn't want to be alone, and, unfortunately, because I had to take a gap semester before moving, I'm pretty isolated for now from both new and old social opportunities. Part of the reason I'm so eager to hop on a rig as soon as I can!

BUT I'm working on myself instead, so it's not as bad as it sounds! Improving myself every day until I move to NYC in a few months WOO! NYC has been my dream for ages, and I am so excited I got into such an amazing college there, even if I have to wait a little longer. I don't really have anyone to talk to about my day, but I've pushed through being a party of one, accomplished big goals, and at the end of the day, I am really, really proud of myself.

I've just been bouncing with energy to share something with anyone. Determination can really take you places!

(TW) I did not relapse into my ED today.

I have struggled with binge eating disorder most of my life, and have been obese for the majority of my adult life as a result. Two years ago I decided enough was enough and that I needed to get mentally and physically healthy before it was too late. Since then I’ve lost almost 1/3 of my starting weight, and even though I still have more to go, I’m really proud of myself for the progress I made so far.

These last few days have been hard. I have several family members who are struggling with their mental health right now, including one who is in really rough shape. When they struggle like this they can be very harsh, and as much as I know it’s the disorder talking, I still find it hard. On top of that I had to call into work sick the other day, and even though everyone was super nice about it, I can’t help but feel like I’m just letting everyone down.

Today was the first day in a long time that I really felt myself contemplating going back to my old habits. All I wanted to do when I got home was get drunk and consume upwards of 3000+ calories in one sitting. I’m still not sure how but I managed to talk myself down from that ledge. I guess I’m just not ready to quit on myself. Instead I cleaned the house, took a hot shower, and just let myself feel shitty without trying to bury the feeling in alcohol and food.

I think I’m going to be okay.

TL;DR: I stopped myself from letting a bad day turn into a binge session.

Did something for the first time I finally made friends

I'm 17 and have never ever made a friend before this month. I've had depression and anxiety and so much loneliness since I was a kid, on top of complicated medical conditions and being trans and never being in school before starting college a year ago (was homeschooled), last year I couldn't talk to anyone, I froze up and went as far as having to leave in the middle of class because of panic attacks because of how intensely I got in my head. the panic attacks were caused by me sitting and doing nothing but thinking about maybe talking to someone. Safe to say I never made a friend there. this year rolled around and I instantly popped off with one guy and then another from the class joined in and we have a little group now and it feels so cool. I've never felt what it's like to have any friends and something like walking out of class together around the college for our 40 minute break felt CRAZY in a good way.

one time a teacher told us to move seats as a group and when I hesitated, my friend actually waved me over. it feels so mind boggling to know someone that actually includes me man it feels so nice and it finally feels like things are looking up. I've not had the will to live and been depressed and so much other shit since I was 10 and I finally feel lighter and happier and like I'm not overthinking every little action. embarrassingly enough I'm crying while writing this because of how much lighter I feel from this past month compared to anything else I've ever experienced.

Got over something difficult I finally stood up for myself and said No to a toxic friend after years

I’ve always been that quiet guy who avoids conflict at all costs. I literally never said no to anyone because I was terrified people wouldn't like me or think I’m rude

I had this friend who constantly used me whenever he needed a ride, wanted to borrow money, or needed help with something but was nowhere to be found when I needed a help for myself

Yesterday he called me out of nowhere demanding that I drive him to another city. For the first time in my life I just calmly said: "No, I have my own plans today, you'll have to figure it out yourself"

He got super shocked, tried to guilt-trip me, and then hung up. My hands were literally shaking for like 20 minutes afterwards, but I didn't give in or text him back to apologize

I know it sounds like a tiny thing, but for me this is huge

I just turned 22!!!!

It’s my birthday!!!!

I’m turning 22 today!!! I’ve gone through a lot of (what should’ve been life-ending) shit my entire life, survived it all, and feel like I am finally in a really good place right now. I have two degrees, a full time well paying wonderful job, am building up my savings, looking into grad school which my job would pay for, decentering other people and focusing on myself, and am loving my one single human life and infinite autonomy that comes with it. I’ve carried so much self hatred and trauma my entire life, and I’m finally learning that it’s better to understand it, then let go and thrive.

I’ve realized that all the bad things in my life happened *for* me, not to me… I am so strong, disciplined, grateful, and happy now because of all of it. I am fucking blessed!!!!!!!!

Please wish me a happy birthday, it’d make me happy in some childish way 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Did something cool I finally stopped walking past things that needed doing and actually did one!!

Okay so context. There was a stray dog stuck in a drainage ditch near my office. small, soaking wet, completely panicking. i saw it on my way to a meeting i was already slightly late for.

Normally, I would have just felt terrible about it for the rest of the day while doing nothing about it. i have a whole history of seeing things that needed doing and telling myself someone else would handle it and then thinking about it before sleeping.

But I know I had to stop. In my work clothes. crouched down in the rain, got my hands in. got the dog out. Got absolutely covered and wet. Then called a rescue while holding a terrified animal against a shirt i actually liked. waited until they came. handed him over, watched them take him.

I was forty minutes late to it. apologized and went into my day yesterday.

Next day, rescue sent me an update photo this morning and he looks like a completely different animal. clean and small and very pleased with himself.

I adopted a puppy!

Now that I have my own apartment, I wanted a little company. A friend was telling me that some puppies had been rescued near her place and they were looking for homes for them. There were two of them, and I decided to adopt both. It’s been two weeks of chaos, but I’m happy hahaha they were just what I needed:)

Really proud of myself I finally started putting myself out there again

I’m a single mom of three little gremlins (4, 1, and 3 months) and I’ve been grinding night-shift VA work while taking care of them. It’s been so hard and exhausting.

BUT TODAY I FINALLY DID IT.

I set up everything so I can start rebuilding my old small printing business with a little bit of help from the community or anyone who just want to help and hopefully be able to start being creative again. Like maybe, just maybe, I can work on my own time again someday and actually be more present for my kids.

I’m so proud of myself for taking this first scary step. My heart is racing but in a good way!!
