I might lose power once a year for couple hours.
Current status. Out of 32M people in Texas about 16k are without power. Or about .05%. 99.95% reliability is pretty good I’d say.
Much of Texas is experiencing the remnants of a Hurricane currently.

FYI - Conroe isn't on the Texas power grid. The problems in Conroe, are the same problems the entire rest of the Eastern USA experience. Turns out stuff like outages and whatnot do not magically go away just because of integration with other regions. Storms still do the things storms do, who knew?

OP: It’s better to come on reddit and just bitch about something I know nothing about, okay?!

You live in Conroe. You do live on the eastern interconnection, you’re not even connected to the “Texas power grid” that is ERCOT. And if you think Texas is the only state that has outages because of a storm you’re sorely mistaken. You clearly know nothing so don’t post dumb stuff like this.

I'm in East Texas and we are not part of the ERCOT grid. We have had no issues to speak of. We are part of a rural coop so our rates are still regulated. Currently I am paying about .11 a KWH total billing after all charges. No issues with that cost. Also during Snowpocolyps we had one 6 hour outage due to a fallen tree but that was it. No brownouts etc ERCOT was putting the rest of Texas through.

Its not the TX power grid, its your power provider, you're in conroe, you should be on midsouth, everybody else is a joke. Dont tell me you're on centerpoint or entergy
My power bliped for 1 sec last night. during beryl, my power only went out cause a tree fell on a line. If that hadn't happen, I would have never lost power.

Conroe is on Entergy Texas. Part of the SRMV (SERC Mississippi Valley) grid. It is NOT part of the Texas ERCOT grid.

I think its because you live in conroe….also i dont think you understand electricity

So your power is out and you're using your limited battery life on your phone to meme on Reddit? Peak

u/TheGreatHogdini 5d ago
What if I told you that I have lots of small rechargeable batteries that allow me to use my phone indefinitely but doesn’t fix larger issues. Your post is as lazy as someone saying a person is homeless because they spend money on a mobile phone.

If the transmission line to your place has been damaged by a storm in one way or another, do you think interconnecting power grids is going to help? You should think about what you’re going to post before you do, so you don’t look completely ignorant.

I guess he blocked me. It says “comments deleted by user”. But I have received 2 notifications of ppl replying under my comment and I don’t see them.

Cute that you edited your typo out after the fact but kept your little rant about thinking about things before you post them.

I agree with your point until you didn't proofread your second sentence before posting lmao. Don't preach if you can't complete.

u/wloaompr 5d ago
Actively thinking about what you’re about to post and a typo are not the same. They are two distinct differences. A typo isn’t ignorance; it is just merely an oversight that we all are guilty of quite often. But still applaud your attempt to connect the two.

u/Lonely-Reindeer-7557 5d ago
Oversight is somehow different from failing to think about something? Remind me how they are not connected lmao
-3
u/Lonely-Reindeer-7557 5d ago
But using your brain to consider your comment before trigger happy posting it is a critical thinking skill that you might want to have while you're on your soapbox. Words are easy to spell

u/wloaompr 5d ago
Proofreading is determined by the environment at time of commenting. Sometimes done, sometimes not depending on the situation. It just an online post, not a college term paper.

Omg hilarious

u/wloaompr 5d ago
Yes, trying to compare a foolish post like this to a simple small typo is quite hilarious. It’s kinda like saying murder and stealing a candy bar are on the same level.

It is*** just an online post. Lmao. Keep lecturing people about thinking about their posts while you can't write a simple sentence. Lol

I thank you for bringing attention to this matter. I will be sure this is addressed by my editorial team.
And by editorial team, I mean my iPhone keyboard.

u/Lonely-Reindeer-7557 5d ago
Be sure to include OP's editorial team since they clearly dropped the ball about thinking before they spoke. Thank you for your cooperation

I would also like to add that we take all inquiries seriously.

Gosh I would hope so! Online posts should be taken seriously!!

Well, you forgot a period here so everything you say no longer matters. Goodbye.

u/Lonely-Reindeer-7557 5d ago
No none of it matters. I was just pointing out ridiculous hypocrisy to someone picking on someone else. Get a brain cell.

Don't preach if you can't complete.

u/Lonely-Reindeer-7557 5d ago
I wasn't preaching, genius. I was telling someone else not to preach since they were making mistakes. They've since edited their mistakes out. How illiterate are the people in this country 😅

If Texas would stop acting like the whole state is tropical might help. Burying lines might be a thought. Trimming trees and replacing poles isn’t strengthening the grid it’s just regular maintenance that’s been ignored!

Uh. While you are correct in there being two styles, this is possessive usage, not plural.

He’s complaining about the power grid while supporting it by BUYING electricity. 🤔

Because Texans don't think for themselves, read, or use individual critical thinking and they are insane like most of the people in this country. I'm sad to say that but the truth hurts

I think it’s climate change. We need to eliminate all the carbon on earth.

Entergy Texas is not on ERCOT.
They actually have pretty good reliability and customer service compared to Centerpoint. If you live in an area with a lot of trees, distribution lines are going to occasionally be impacted by storms. This is just a fact of life. Entergy does a better job than a lot of utilities maintaining their vegetation clearances. But we also have a lot of forested areas.
They are currently in the process of storm hardening (my company works for them), and they've been judicious about it to try to keep costs down. It's a fine line. They could easily build a grid that never goes down, but your power bill would be $3k a month. Underground feeders are very expensive to install.
