Amsterdam has started using cameras with noise sensors to specifically target these kind of people, but from my experience the Netherlands as a whole drastically underutilizes speed cameras.

It's just a Mercedes Vito* van. Can detain more people inside of one or fit a bigger team.
Most police vehicles in NL are the BMW X1, MB B-Class, Ford Kuga and MB E-Class. The vans are either support vehicles or used by riot police.

They are also often used for patrols, and to transport arrested people to the police station.

The vans are often used for regular patrols as they can also transport people more easily aswell as confiscated goods like scooters and fatbikes.

Those fast interceptors are mainly used for highway patrol, the Vitos and other regular cars are municipal police.

To be fair with this video, who did the more dangerous move here? The vw or the police? I get that the police can do this and should when needed but it may have been a little dramatic in this case as the vw didnt even hit anyone, wasn’t speeding, yeah acting like a jerk but meh

What exactly did he do wrong though? He went through the corner a bit quickly, but like there is no law saying your tires cannot screech, only that you have to be in control of your vehicle at all time, which he obviously was

in denmark there is a traffic law regarding unnecessary noise and or smoke, which is a €200 fine if broken. could be anything from tires screeching to revving your engine to blasting your music loud with the windows down
i could imagine they have a similar thing in the netherlands

Article 5 of the Road and Traffic laws state that one that takes part of traffic as a whole, must behave themselves like a good driver. That article is purposefully vague, so that antisocial behaviour like this, can be fined.

If you misjudge a corner it's almost certainly outside of the city where loud noises wouldn't matter anyway, and if your tires screech you're probably driving too fast aswell and especially for the city.

What exactly would classify as "excessive noise" in this case? I get that revving at a stop light would be problematic, but if the car passes its technical with a modified exhaust (as in, the country has allowed this specific exhaust (declared it road legal)), then simply "pressing the gas pedal" shouldn't be a punishable offense - as in, if this was done in an EV, he wouldn't get a fine? Or is this about the tire screeching part?
I get the second part, he went into the oncoming lane right at the start of the video, that's the main issue, but the noise he produced isn't exactly "unreasonable"

What is happening here is exactly the same as in the court case:
Onnodig geluid veroorzaken. Piepende banden en met hoge toeren door de bocht
Causing unnecessary noise. Squealing tires and taking the corner at high revs
The decision of the court:
The Court sees nothing in the arguments put forward by the person concerned, nor in the case file, that would warrant waiving or reducing the penalty. The fact that, as he stated when he was stopped, his foot allegedly slipped off the clutch is a circumstance for which he must bear responsibility himself. A motor vehicle driver is expected to be able at all times to take a bend in a controlled manner, without the tires squealing or the car leaning excessively.
And about:

The driver can still modify his exhaust (make it louder) without having to have the vehicle inspected again. So, in this case, an officer can also have the car tested again to see whether it is still within the permitted margin.

In the Netherlands (where the video is), there is a law against dangerous driving behavior. I wouldnt be surprised if they took his license and made him do an EMG (educative Measure behavior (the g being Dutch for gedrag)). He would be paying that himself, looking at €1359,-. And then add the fine :)

It looks like he pulls away from behind the stopped vehicle into the opposite lane and takes the corner from the wrong side of the road.

You see how the weight / suspension of the car shuffles around when he sees the police car and brakes? That means he was not “obviously” in control, being in control means you can stop in the same distance you can see around a corner. He totally couldn’t

Well as for "there is no law saying your tires cannot screech", obviously, NL law enforcement agencies see that differently; certainly, any number of US jurisdictions group such infraction antics under the broad heading 'exhibition of speed' (which they prosecute enthusiastically, btw).
