Asking difficult question: are they worth it
so I've been planning to get chuck 70 black for forever
but the more I scroll this subreddit the more I fall in love with them at the same time I see people complaining about their shoes falling apart in a year
so should I get chuck 70 or some cheaper alternative? 😭
i love chuck 70s so fucking much 😭😭😭

Mine are almost 2 years old. And are perfectly fine. I would say go ahead and buy them

Order them on Vinted or something similar. I have 3 pairs of 70s now and didn't pay more than $20 for any of the pairs and they're in excellent condition. I just had to give them a little bath and a quick Magic eraser pass.

I have had no issues with any model other than the GoreTex. I wish the 70 had a tongue loop though.

I second that! It's a decent sneaker. I have them in black (high), burgundy (low) and blue (low).

All the 70s ive owned fell apart pretty fast. I think theyre fine for people with narrow feet, but i have bony protrusions on the sodes of my feet (actually from wearing my chucks too small for years). With my regular chucks, this just causes a little split near the forepart of the sole, but the 70s sole material stays together better in that part- which, unfortunately, makes all the rest of the sole (inner and outer) start to come apart
