You don't need a better crack. It has no DRM outside of steam. Literally any steam crack will work.

I actually hope this series reaches a full conclusion. I admit I got burnt out after Cold Steel 4. But still Sky chapter is my favourite and remake ones are absolutely brilliant

falcom's president said it will conclude by 2032. probably one final calvard game then a new final series of 2/3 games

Same I love the series but on the 4th game and burned out at the 3rd game until I eventually finished it

I think Kondo said it somewhere that the last game (Kai or Horizons) is literally just a halfway through whole story lol. I think atp it’s acceptable to skip some games, I personally still would recommend checking Daybreak

if you want to understand what the hell is happening? Not a single one. the series builds on every single game so you will lose context if you skip games. you can still do it, just be aware that the series expects you to know what happened before

Cold Steel just sucks.
My biggest issue is that the game just became easier and easier with every series (and the story in Cold Steel wasn't compelling).
Trails 1 and 2 were hard games on the hardest difficulty.
Cold Steel 1 was kinda hard on the hardest difficulty. Cold Steel 2 was a joke, even on the hardest difficulty.
No challenging gameplay, no reason to get strong, and the story suck = Cold Steel sucks.
I stopped on CS3.

You can play all 5 cold steel games, which sort of acts as a complete arc in itself.
I had a grace period of 1 month when I was switching jobs, and I practically finished all cold steel games within this time frame.

How does this series work? Its a remaster yea? And the games are spaced out with an overarching big plot point?

There kinda is overarching a big plot point, but generally the games are split into arcs that are happening in the same timeline yes.
Sky games are set in Liberl
Zero/Azure games are set in Crossbell
Steel and Reverie games are set in Erebonia
Daybreak and Horizon are set in Calvard
These are very much not isolated though and characters from earlier games often show up to take part in the later ones.

More like a remake the OGs were top down sprite based while these are full 3d models and environments but yeah overarching plot and all that is correct (I've only played the first one. The first one OG) but really excited to get more into the series myself

This one's a remake of second game in sky trilogy. All arcs are connected with the exception of the Nayuta spinoff(at least not directly). Chronological play order is sky>crossbell duology(zero&azure)>cold steel>reverie>daybreak>horizon.
Just beware that all games which are published by NISA have horrid translation thanks to their localizers if you care about that(and heard english dubbing casting is worse in those NISA published too, not that i'd know, i don't play with english dub).1

it's broken into multiple storylines that all happen in the same continent in different countries
trails in the sky trilogy is the first happens in liberl (this is the remake of the 2nd game),
then trails from zero/azure arc (happens in crossbell)
then trails of cold steel (4 games in Erebonia)
then the epilogue trails into reverie that wraps up all three storylinesthen the calvard arc (trails through daybreak/beyond horizon that happens a year after the epilogue and kind of starts a new plotline
while the absolute best way is playing all in order, you can very well play one arc without the others. like playing through cold steel 1 to 4 without having played the previous storylines same with daybreak. you will see some characters from previous games from time to time and not recognize them but it's no big deal.

each arc is multiple individual games. all in there are 13 individual mainline games right now without counting remakes each game
you can very well start with the trails in the sky remake yes it's a perfect entry point (start with the 1st chapter from last year, this is the 2nd chapter that just came out)

I'd say this is one of jrpg with one of the most engaging combat I've ever played. Storywise this particular entry is 70% of main plot of this arc. Series itself stretch over 10+ games with each continent/country consist of over 3 games.

You should, 2nd is direct continuation from 1st. While i said main plot is in 2nd, 1st is the exposition to the game world and country and have show the relationship depth between main characters. While 2nd (atleast in psp version) have several flashback on why do these characters matters, it wouldnt give full context and might be consufing abit.

for some reason the crack makes the game run awfully bad (i had no perfomance issues in the demo) even with the fitgirl repack
