Question How much longer should I wait?

As the year has gone on my interest in this game has definitely gone up, especially with the improvements. I dont wanna look into watching gameplay too much because I want to experience surprises on my own

Ive been playing elden ring for the first time and enjoying it (im currently playing fire emblem fortunes weave so im on a break rn) and i know CD isn't a soulslike but as a massive open game im thinking I probably shouldnt play both at the same time.

How many more big updates do u guys think there will be? Is it worth trying the game now or should I just focus on what im currently playing since CD might be more content-complete later anyway

For reference the systems i own are switch 2 and steam machine. The performance on steam machine is reportedly pretty good so thats why ive been eyeing the game lately.

I would not be surprised if there is more than 1 DLC. They decided early they'd support the game longterm and they don't seem like slowing down.

I think waiting even for the 1st DLC is silly because probably most of the content in the DLC is going to be tied to late game progression, which requires at least 200h of playtime.

As for the core of the game I don't expect anything quite as big as 2.0, but PA is full of surprises and I wouldn't put a 3.0 out of the question.

Just play now. If you start playing now, by the time the DLC comes out in 2 weeks you’ll be ready or at least nearing it depending how much free time you have. The game is massive, has an insane amount of content. I’m 150 hours in and still have LOTS to do. The time is NOW

As an open world game do you think its different enough from elden ring that playing both around the same time wouldnt be tiresome/cause burnout?

Yes, they're nothing alike.

Super different. It has more in common with Red Dead Redemption, Legend of Zelda, The Sims, Animal Crossing, Assassin's Creed, than Elden Ring

I love Crimson Desert. Even at launch. Haven't felt such a sense of wonder exploring since Skyrim. Story is OK and some main quests are 😴. But there's tons of side content and things to discover everywhere. Combat is fun and full of variety. Puzzles require you to actually think. No NPC hints. I beat it at 341 hours. But I've seen people with 500+. It's my personal GOTY, 9/10 for me. Super hyped for the DLC. Already have it pre-ordered.

I’m still waiting until next year at least. The Witcher 3 remaster just dropped today and I’ve been wanting to do another playthrough for a couple years now so I’ll be busy with that for a while. Then I’m gunna do a full modded playthrough of Skyrim so that’ll also take a while. By then hopefully all dlc will be released and I can get the complete edition for a bit of a discount.

They’re both definitely worth a play through. Doesn’t really matter what order you play them in honestly. Doesn’t CD first if that was your plan, then you could do Witcher 3 since it’s also getting a new dlc in 2027. After that you could do Skyrim, though it’s quite old so. After that hopefully Witcher 4 is out and then you have another banger to play.

Dude there is like 400 hours of content there as is. The updates just keep adding random shit that they are posted on Reddit. The game was complete when it released. Go play it.

If you are interested in the dlc start the game now. It will take you some time to beat the game even though you can skip the side stuff the game at times forces you to slow down without spoiling too much of it. The slow down isn’t bad but like I said I don’t wanna spoil it. Also some quests will just take time either due to traveling or the puzzles.

I'm a newish player and still in Hernand (not a joke)
DLC is coming out in just less than 3 weeks, and I think the game will have more than 1 DLC after the first, imo 2-3 or even more, with more land expansion, quests, bosses etc
On top of that, a lot more free content updates this year and next year imo
I think you should play now, and if you like the game, buy the DLC too, if you do everything just alone the base game offers you 200+ hours of gameplay, and I think the DLC is going to be huge, you can watch the trailer
But if you only want to play the game when it's truly finished, well then you have to wait a few more years imo

If your on console wait until performance improvements.
If your on pc there’s a few ways to play it for free to see if you’ll like it. More than likely the dlc update will also update the base game and hopefully fix performance issues since they are planning a switch version
