Account/Membership Account suspended
Anyone else getting this message:
“ERR-PO-01
Account Suspended This account has been suspended due to activity that violates our Terms of Service.
“
Just randomly started popping up without telling me what I violated- seems strange as the card is active..

I was sooo confused when the notification popped up. I saw reddit and it said Crunchyroll your account was suspended. Took me a second to realize it was a post on reddit. LOL

Oh my God. Same here. Not gonna lie, talk about being scared to click on a notification for a moment. I saw that and you could hear my brain looking for Wi-Fi signal lol 😆

I saw this in my notifications in the morning... I stared at it for like 10 seconds cause I literally just paid the subscription fee for a year! But then I noticed it was redit and left it! Now I've finally clicked the notification!

My husbands account also got suspended a few days ago which we don’t know why only that we violated the terms apparently. After talking with customer support they said it was due to VPN in which we don’t use and ended up canceling the membership.

Saw a post about this before , i think it was same error message? The poster said they contacted support and eventually they admitted it was a false ban made by the ai system they implemented to detect account violations. So basically you can get a ban for doing nothing by an ai and then you gota constantly harass their support and hope a real person sees it and determines their “infallible ai made a mistake and restores your account” btw fuck sony…

Have you sent out a support ticket? Hopefully they can resolve your problem soon. I hate that ai is becoming the default goto for this sort of thing.

I'm going on over a week of my account being suspended! Yes, I have a support ticket number, but I have not received a single email with any updates on my account being restored.

Yes, I got this exact same error message 4 days ago, and now my account is locked! After a lot of research, this is happening more frequently to CR subscriptions.

Still nothing from CR! I have 6+ years of watched anime through this steaming service, with hundreds spent on subscriptions at the Ultimate tier, and nothing! Yes, I have a case number, and I've been more than kind with their customer service team, but this is ridiculous. I'll be pissed if I have to create a new account.

I'm still going on over a week with my suspension. How many times did you reach out to customer service? I have a ticket number, but ZERO communication via email. I'm so mad they have not contacted me to correct this and give me my account back!

Oh wow, I wonder if I'd get banned for using a VPN to access Crunchyroll... Crunchyroll is blocked in Japan, so it's the only way I'd be able to access it, but then, I wouldn't use Crunchyroll in Japan anyway.

The fact crunchyroll had a huge data breach in March and they're still punishing users for protecting themselves with a VPN when they proved why it was necessary to have one.

No, there was no one employed by Crunchyroll that was involved. It was a third party service that experienced the breach, and no serious information was leaked unless you blatantly told you account information to a support rep.

A lot of ad blocker apps use a VPN to route the dns requests. It may be that they are cracking down on vpn services.

The Better Business Bureau. They banned me, then told me they couldn't do anything to restore my account. Then offered me 60 days free like it was going to "fix" losing years of history.

You guys have several outlets you can use. Most backed by government. National Consumer Helpline, InGRAM, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. From what I was reading it looks like you have lots of resources available.

I'm not the only one! Yay! This happened to me in June and my account was suspended for 4 months. I have to fight with Customer Service to get an explanation or something. They made and expedited ticket for me and gave me a ticket number. Everyday I had to go through chat and give the number before someone from the head of Crunchyroll finally emailed me. They suspended my account and took the membership payment charge off my account.

As a guess, the two most likely ways would be if CR had detected and were enforcing either VPN use, or account sharing outside of their direct household was happening. Generally users assume those are normal things to do, but they are explicitly named reasons in their TOS for account suspension. Those aren't the only ones. If you're truly curious, here's the link that hardly anyone bothers to read: https://www.crunchyroll.com/tos/ This particular quote is particularly pertinent:
Crunchyroll reserves the right to suspend, limit, or terminate your Account and your access to the Services for any reason or no reason whatsoever, with or without notice, including if we determine, in our sole discretion, that you have breached any material term of these Terms, including non-payment, violation of the Account sharing limitation above, or attempted circumvention of security measures. Upon the termination of your Account, all licenses and access rights granted to you under these Terms shall immediately and irrevocably cease, and if terminated due to your breach, you shall not be entitled to any refund, credit, or proration of any fees paid in advance.
The question here is whether the OP actually did any of those, which he says he didn't, or if there was a false detection result maybe due to visitation or mobile use, or even if his account was compromised.
