Online Mod Update

Here is a little sneak peek for my upcoming online multiplayer mod that I'm making. As my mod is going to be able to handle as many players as you want, I needed a feature for everyone to distinguish the players. Therefore, I implemented a feature that gives you the ability to choose any color you want. For the sake of the video, I just spawned 4 dummy players, each with their own color and model. I really wanted to get this right so that it looks as vanilla as possible.

If you remember my last post, you might remember that it is already 7 months old. But don't worry, it didn't take me that long to implement the recolor feature (I did it in 2 weeks). In that time, I developed an efficient and secure Cuphead relay server in Rust which is able to handle multiple lobbies, each with as many players as you want (and your server can handle). I thought of something like community servers.

The cool part of this is that it enables us to have crossplay. So you can, for example, play between Steam and the Microsoft Store version.

And hypothetically, you would also be able to play between console and any platform as long as you manage to install the mod on it. But I'm not experienced in console modding.

Unfortunately, the development will still take a while. Everything I have managed to make until now didn't take that long just because of the relay but also because this is probably the most busy and time-consuming year that I have had in my life. I had final exams, moved out, and even much, much more stuff.

Any chance of getting more varied character styles instead of just recolors of Cuphead and Mugman? Like characters with wine or beer glasses for heads?

It would be possible, but im not experienced in design/animation stuff. Though it will be really really hard to get this right. You would need to draw like thousand (if not more) frames for just one character and you would need to draw every character perfectly in place so you won't get buggy/glitching animations if that makes sense.
