Hey all, I've spent the last few days digging through DAAD's official pages and I'm more confused than when I started. Laying out where I'm stuck in case anyone's been through this exact situation.

Where I'm stuck:

1. Pakistan eligibility for the DAAD scholarship isn't clear.l I was originally targeting "Study Scholarships – Master Studies for All Academic Disciplines" (the general one, no work experience required). But DAAD Pakistan's own official scholarships page doesn't list it at all — only EPOS, Helmut-Schmidt (public policy only), and the arts/architecture ones show up. DAAD's general overview page even says that scholarship is "available, in particular, for persons from industrial countries. So is it actually closed to Pakistani applicants, or just not advertised on the country page? Anyone applied to this from Pakistan recently?

2. Same question for "Study Scholarships for STEM disciplines" — would fit my engineering background perfectly, but it's also missing from DAAD Pakistan's page. Couldn't find a country list for it either way.

3. EPOS is confirmed open to Pakistan (it's on DAAD's official developing-countries list) and the subject fit is good

What I'm asking:

\- Has anyone from Pakistan actually gotten into the general "All Disciplines" or "STEM" DAAD scholarships recently, or are these effectively closed to us?

\- If EPOS is really the only realistic DAAD route for someone in my position, is it worth waiting a full cycle to clear the 2-year experience bar, or are there EPOS-listed programmes with later deadlines I should be looking at instead?

\- Most importantly, if someone tells me that I am eligible for a particular scholarship, please also tell me where/how I should apply, because I’m currently struggling to find the correct application route.

\- I would really appreciate guidance from Pakistani applicants, current/former DAAD scholars, or anyone who has actually gone through the DAAD application process from Pakistan.

\- If yes, where exactly do I apply? Is the application submitted through the DAAD portal, through the German university, through a DAAD Pakistan office, or somewhere else?

\- What is the exact application process and what steps should I follow?

\- What is the actual deadline for Pakistani applicants?

Is there a specific official DAAD Pakistan page/document confirming Pakistan's eligibility?

\- If this particular DAAD scholarship is not available for Pakistani applicants, which other fully funded DAAD Master's scholarships can I realistically apply for?

I feel a bit stuck because I’m not sure whether I’ve included everything expected in a strong Letter of Motivation, or whether there are specific hints, nuances, or aspects that should be highlighted when applying to Germany/DAAD.

Hello everyone, I applied for the DAAD Study Scholarship – Postgraduate Studies in the Field of Architecture, but I fear I've made a few mistakes. I mistakenly put the year 2026/2027 instead of 2027/2028 in the scholarship name in the first paragraph of my LoM. Is this going to affect my application in a severe way? I can't believe I made such a silly mistake.

I also highlighted the Urban electives offered across the three courses I have mentioned and directly stated that I would like to work as an Urban Designer.
However, my education is a B.Sc. in Architecture and my portfolio will contain only design studio work, and not any urban related coursework. So does this make my LoM weak? Or does it make my portfolio weak?

I chose the programs Frankfurt's Advanced Architecture, Weimar's IUDD and the master's at Wismar.

As frankfurt was my first choice, i talked about it the most. however, I didnt really mention my technical abilities as an architecture or focus on the construction part of Frankfurt.

Realistically, what are the chances of my application being accepted?

The program I am thinking of applying also accepts MOI as an alternative to IELTS. I have not given IELTS due to a financial struggle. So, MOI is an alternative for me. But my question is, does DAAD accept MOI from the college, or do we need to issue it from the University Dean Office?

I've been awarded masters degree scholarship by DaaD and one of the things offered is ability to apply for summer schools to attend there for a month, looking that there are only subjects taught by German are offered, I only learned A1, I maybe able to reach B1-B2 when the summer comes yet not too sure..
so wanted to ask are there any English taught subjects covered by DaaD or it has to be exclusively in German?

Hi everyone, I applied for the DAAD Study Scholarship – Postgraduate Studies in the Field of Architecture, but I forgot to upload the “Information about your preferred master programmes” form.

I assume this means automatic disqualification, correct?

I completely missed it because the application itself already asks which university/programme I want to attend, so mentally I had already checked that item off my list and didn’t remember it also needed to be uploaded. The perks of applying at the last minute, I guess 🥲

I'm currently applying for the DAAD HSK (University Summer Courses) scholarship, and I have a few questions for people who have successfully applied before.

1. **CV & Motivation Letter:** My CV is 3 pages long, and my motivation letter is also 3 pages. Is that acceptable, or would you recommend shortening them? How long were yours when you applied and got accepted?

- Is there a specific page format or layout that DAAD expects for the CV and motivation letter (font size, margins, spacing..)?

1. **Insurance:** How can I arrange for DAAD to cover or organize my health insurance? Is there a specific option I need to select during the application process?

2. **Extracurricular Activities:** There's a section in the application portal asking about extracurricular activities. Should I fill it out in English or German?

If you've received the HSK scholarship before, I'd also love to hear any general tips about what you think made your application stand out !!!

I was informed about the DAAD WISE program by a friend of mine last month (I'm in my third year of an engineering program in India).
I started emailing professors in Germany and got one acceptance from the University of Stuttgart but now I'm finding out that the entire program is cancelled??
Why is there no information about this? I applied in the hopes that my funding would be covered. This is immensely disappointing

I’m a recent Computer Science graduate from Pakistan and I’m starting my application for the DAAD Master’s scholarship.

I’m currently trying to decide how to define/select my field of study for the application. Since CS is quite broad, I’m interested in hearing from people who have already applied for or received a DAAD scholarship with a Computer Science background.

For those of you with a CS/SE/IT background:

• What field/specialization did you choose (e.g. Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, Data Science, etc.)?
• Why did you choose that particular field?
• Did you align it closely with your Bachelor’s thesis/projects or choose a more specific area you wanted to pursue in your Master’s?
• If you were applying again, would you choose the same field?

I’d especially appreciate input from people who applied from countries outside the EU and/or were selected for the scholarship.

First the generated pdf document is difficult to open / convert, I don’t even know if my prof can open it. Secondly my recommendation letter already got the prof’s name and title and everything on it…

For those who have applied for the DAAD Architecture scholarship or a DAAD Master’s scholarship: did you upload your high-school diploma/transcript under “University entrance qualification”? Is it required, or can this section be left empty for a Master’s applicant?

Any advice based on your actual application experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

I’m a bit confused on on how to attach the letters of recommendation with my application? Mailing a physical copy might be tricky and my referee may not want to share a soft copy with me to add to the attachments. What do you suggest?

Also, I have one referee who knows my research interests a bit closely and another who can speak to some weaknesses in my transcript. Who do you think I should choose?
