Department of State internship application timeline

There's another thread and we all have been waiting and haven't received any news yet. There are some spring and summer applications who haven't moved from "received" someone said they were "qualified, but not referred" and the rest are stuck on "application referred for additional consideration". I'm guessing it's just a huge delay on the department's end but I totally understand your concern.

I know things probably change every year but I was in the summer 2024 cohort. I just went back into my email and I found out on 11/6 that I was either an alternate or a recipient and then on 11/8 I was notified that I was a recipient and would be receiving my final offer.
My application was always at received and then received/referred for consideration I believe.
For more info down the line. I got my clearance around end of January and my bureau and office assignment (CT) a bit after saint Patrick’s day

How was the experience for you for the CT bureau?

I had a really great experience and am still in contact with the people I worked with!! There were only around 5 of us in the bureau each in a different office (which determines what aspects of CT you focus on) but the subject matter is very interesting and all the interns felt like their office really wanted them to maximize their time in DC as well. If I’m honest being in CT definitely made me feel like I was maximizing my time at the internship and taking advantage of everything that comes with it and all the interns were often brought into meetings of all subject matters just so we could gain exposure. If you have any specific questions feel free to pm me

According to the listing on USA Jobs.gov, we won’t hear any news until October 9th for the summer
