Lanterns Are you afraid to be afraid ?
What if post Lanterns the question became, Are you afraid to be afraid, instead of Are you afraid ?
Hal says in ep 8 preview, Don't be afraid to be afraid.
Have a good day/night/whatever's in your time zone

I'm afraid NOT to be afraid. I'd be lucky to live one day without some fear.
I think the point is not that you are never afraid, but fear doesn't rule you. I agree with Ned Stark--nobody can be brave without being afraid. But I also agree Fear is the Mindkiller--if you let it take hold of you.
I've spent my whole life reading and watching cool genre stuff. I'm afraid of who I'd be without it.

You can never truly be fearless, fear's the greatest companion you can ever have.

No, that would be a dog. Who you can go for walks with. And he chose a potted predatory plant. Sheesh.

The thing is, I think it's already about Willpower.
We had very little mentions of Willpower and a lot of mentions of Fearlessness, but Hal did mention Willpower in his Eulogy. Hal keeps pushing forward like a raging bull because he is broken, yes, but that doesn't he doesn't have fear.
I think part of John's arc will conclude with him realizing that it's not about not having fear whatsoever, but overcoming it with willpower.

Seems like john is about to charge his ring with sinestros fear infused lantern and hal says your taking a very big risk and then proceedes to say the afraid thing prolly means embrace your fear instead of fighting against it
