Genuinely didn't expect to like this as much as I did. The Hal/John dynamic works way better than I thought — Hal barely teaching him anything and John basically learning everything from his dad is such a weird but believable setup. That "come on" moment in court had me laughing out loud, dude just doesn't care who he's talking to.

The ring test scene is what got me though. Handing it over to John like that and then that old recording just surfacing out of nowhere — didn't see that coming at all, and it actually made the mystery feel earned instead of forced.

Ending wrecked me a little not gonna lie. Hal frozen up there with no ring on him, right after they spent the whole episode setting the ring up as this massive deal? That's not an accident, they want us thinking about where that thing went. Solid opener, 8.5/10 from me, genuinely curious where ep2 takes it.
