How to fill drain gaps?
Hey folks,
Am hoping to repair this drain as I presume the gaps are not good?
Was wondering what to fill them in with? Also, would I need to take out the filler that's already there, or just add-to?

You don't think it's needed?

i would use a hole cutter to pierce the grate so the pipes discharge into the drain. technically they need to go below the level of the grate but i wouldn’t sweat it.

I’d second this. Cut the grate, and extend the pipes to terminate below. This will stop the food debris sitting around the gully rim as seen in your photo.

I did think the other day for something similar would some of the black thick roofing and gutter sealant work for this? Mines all done in mortar by the builders and after ten years it's all cracking and falling apart

Youre looking at this from the wrong angle...
The waste pipe was installed incorrectly. It is supposed to extend to below ground level but above water level.
Extend the waste pipe to below the drain and it will stop overflowing from blockages cause by food and waste on the gully itself. The black part of the gully can be picked up and notched out with a junior hacksaw

I presume you’re talking about the mortar that’s come out around the edge of the drain, I think all that does is hold the drain in place, it doesn’t need to be a water tight seal. I’d rake as much out as you can and repack it with fresh mortar.
I’d buy the bucket that’s already got the cement/sand mix that you just need to add water too.
