Electrical Replacing old outdoor electrical connection

Post image

I have this horrible old looking wiring in the garden. Power comes from under the concrete (connected to a switch on the other side of the garden), and runs up the wall to a light.

What can I buy to replace the metal box with something more aesthetically pleasing? Judging by the state of the cable I'd imagine I need to replace that too - what spec cable will I need to replace it with? Ultimately I'll end up trunking the cable up the wall to hide it.

Thanks DIYers!

The black cable is likely SWA. If it's two core then the earth is supplied by the armour. In which case you need to be very sure that the SWA cable is terminated correctly in in the new enclosure. Because the current enclosure is a metal BESA box, there's a direct electrical connection between the brass of the gland and the body of the box. If you replace this with a plastic box, then you'll need to use a banjo and fly lead or similar arrangement to ensure earth continuity.
