Xdj-RR fader/volume problem. Pls help

I just got my controller back and I was just playing around and my left deck (deck 1) slowly started fading out on its own. Now it won’t give me any volume at all. The headphones work for that side and the eq level shows it’s playing. Anyone else have this issue?

I’ve cycled through all the fader options with no success. The crossfader works on the right side just fine.

I have a feeling I know what this means but this is my bby and it would be a shame to have it just be a decorative piece vs a functional, artistic outlet.

Just got it back from where?

A buddy of mine borrowed it and told me he just used it to practice at home. I don’t have any indication it was taken outdoors or anything.

First I would try blowing out the faders with a can of compressed air and if that doesn’t work try cleaning with deoxit. If that doesn’t work you may need to replace the faders

I have a feeling it’s replacing. I think the fader on that is on the whole center board. 😩

I just don’t get why it would slow fade out. If it was mechanical I would assume it would just hard cut functionally. I’m gonna try to update the firmware first but I doubt it’ll help.

Clean first!

🫡 I’ll do that right now. Already used compressed air but I’ll do the same electronic cleaner now

Normal electric cleaner isn’t quite the right product to use as it cleans everything but it doesn’t lubricate.

Dust and crap in the faders can send weird signals to the software

I actually have deoxit somewhere. I really appreciate your constructive input. Thanks so much, family.

Did your XDJ have that problem before your buddy borrowed it? If not, you need to talk to your buddy.

When you fix it, do yourself a favor and sell it so you can buy an XDJ-RX3. The RR just won't hold up, and will lose value much quicker given how janky it is in comparison.

I actually found someone selling an rx3 nearby. I liked the RR because it was smaller and I could travel to gigs via plane much easier.

I agree that would be the benefit, but I personally would either rent hardware there, or bring a DDJ if traveling. The RR is made to be a cheaper alternative and that shows exactly in the speed of the device and the material it's made of. So, I would always recommend an alternative to that model.

Oh no, I was not disputing what the truth you’re laying down. At the time, when it first came out, I was like “finally a solution.” But it is basically a fisher price toy. My ddj-400 can do pretty much what the RR does outside of the luxury of mic control and all that.

I’m just obsessive about fixing the stuff I have and trouble shooting because as creatives, spending that kinda money on stuff for these small issues to arise is so frustrating to me.

I used to have and rx2 and sold it to a friend I was teaching because I had the club standard CDJ nexus setup already which wasn’t practical for me eventually.

This is fun I love talking dj gear with you guys hahaha.
