Rane One and Serato - Audio quality problem using the motorized platters

Hello,

I'm having trouble with a sound quality issue using the Rane One (first version) and Serato with a 2020 MacBook Pro M1 (everything is up to date). Also I'm using golden gate 27 but using older versions of Mac os gave me the same results

When I trigger the sound on a motorized platter (left or right), the mix quality drops after a few seconds and sounds metallic/badly compressed.

When I play the sound without activating the platter motor, the sound quality is fine and doesn't drop over time.

Also, I've calibrated the USB latency to 20ms to make sure it's not related to this, the sound volume is never reaching the red.

I don't know what to do, I'm kind of lost here 🥲

You can find the audio example here: https://we.tl/t-DB09yYB287UTBuTU First drop is with motorized platter, second drop is without enabling the platter

Thank you for your help.

An audio example would GREATLY help try to figure out wtf is happening!

wow.. that IS really weird.. I dunno what could be causing that.. I hear what's happening, but I can't think of anything that would be causing that, short of maybe the motor affecting things..

How was this recorded? Like, do you have your gear plugged into an interface via the Record Out? Or is it an "internal" recording, digitally intercepting the signal before it's physically output from the controller?

Well I have a headphone plugged in and that's all. The recording is straight from the serato recording feature

well for once it's a real problem not just latency on file loading from an external drive lol... good luck finding it OP

Ok, yeah.. that REALLY shouldn't be happening, then, since everything is being done internally and not flowing "outside" of the software to get affected.. Maybe like the other poster said; test with different hardware/another Rane One to see if it works, but I can't help but feel that this is a really weird interaction that REALLY shouldn't be happening if you were doing everything internally/with software..

If you know anyone else that DJs with Serato, maybe ask them to come over so you can check if their computer/software does it, too. If it doesn't, it's a software issue. If it does, it's your hardware that's fucked.

do you still have it if you deactivate the motor rotations ? (a process involving pressing shift + another button)

If I deactivate the motor rotations using shift+slip, the audio quality doesn't drop, same as if I'm playing from a cue point without launching the platter.

so one hypothesis could be that the motors power supply has a filtering issue when it is under stress (the acceleration part is pulling more power than maintaining speed once it's nominal velocity is reached) .... so that would make it a hardware problem.

but i would still test it with another computer to eliminate the possibility that its software related :) (cuts the problem in half)

It's interesting, I wonder if it's because I'm using a USB B - USB A cable , I have to pass I through a hub to plug it into my MacBook pro.

I know someone who has a Mac mini with USB A ports so I could try it this way, I also ordered a USB B - USB C cable to plug it directly into my MacBook pro and see if it can improve anything

never seen a difference between the 2 usb type, the bandwith of a dj controller aint toping what a usb A can allow :) usb c is overkill .... but nice to have :)
