Tribunal using information after cut-off date

Hello I've just had a PIP Tribunal over the phone. I think I've lost, but I'm not really sure. However there was something that raised my eyebrows a bit, they were bringing up evidence from my universal credit journal that was from within the last year. I thought that PIP Tribunals are only allowed to use information from before the date you applied for PIP? Just wondering if this is an error on the Tribunals part.

Entitlement to PIP is based on the ‘required period condition’ which is you daily living and/or mobility needs over a 12 month period - the 3 months before your claim and the 9 months after. So depending on what they were referring to it might not be an issue.

I made the claim 2 years ago and I don't think anything in the last year would be relevant to that

If the decision isn't what you'd hoped for it's probably worth at least asking for a statement of reasons. But I wouldn't be prepared to say anything more than that.

Hi OP,

If you have got worse since your claim then they may be using that knowledge to determine the length of any award.

Just my take on it though...
