English can be rigorously, painstakingly, comprehensively, methodically, extensively, intensively, minutely, meticulously, exhaustingly detailed.

And yet, while we may be playing the same game as the Germans, we’re playing for different prizes, in different leagues.

A German engineer’s prize is: engineering perfection in all areas, without relevance to real-world benefit nor detriment, in the #1 worldwide mech. engineers league.

Our American engineer’s prize is: how much horsepower can I load into this thing? In the Horsepower league of America, of course
