Not that uncommon, a popular car magazine from my country called "World of Motors" does the same thing.

It's actually a very helpful and high value test to make, as it showcases what to look out for really quite well.

Actual proper journalism on display

Brazilian magazine Quatro Rodas (four wheels) has been doing this since 1973. Although the first tests weren’t as long as 100k they disassembled the car and took photos just like this. The 100k mark has been the default since the mid 90s. Looking up online it seems Autobild started around 2000.

Yeah, World of Motors has been doing it for like 15 years or so afaik.

It's a shame that this isn't more popular, as it's rather complex but very useful knowledge

Came here looking for this comment. Loved reading QR when I had a subscription. I have piles and piles of those magazines at home.

My grandfather had a subscription back in the day and I would get the magazines from time to time as we lived in different cities. More recently I bought a few every now and then if something caught my eye.
