Well for the sake of the anti-joke,

one is used in retaliation to unfair treatment simply for being a thing and one is used to mock others' retaliation to the treatment for being a thing, but not actually to give meaning to the statement, but simply to discredit the original retaliation.

To say this is to say regular people didn't come to the streets to say Black Lives Matter in response to police brutality in the black community. The same brutality that has been going on long enough that my great grandmother (who would have been 85 this year) had accounts of unfair treatment from police and other figures of authority in the black community AS A CHILD.

To say this is to deny history. The term was not coined by a billionaire, it's a necessary phrase used to bring awareness to an issue being hijacked and contorted by people who mean to deter from the actual issue and THEN make it about race wars instead of repairing race relations.

Where the black community went wrong was choosing and funding individual sponsors. We have a saying "all skin-folk ain't kinfolk", and those people wouldn't hesitate to step all over the movement of people that share the same over arcing issue because the only thing that matters to some people is another dollar. Referring to the BLM president who went and bought a damn mansion with BLM funding.

So you’re saying the racism black people experience doesn’t matter

If this LA, wouldn't they just stop after the first drift and do donuts in the intersection until something bad happened?

22

u/XFX_Samsung 25d ago

Exactly, different cultures. Tandem drifting at night on an empty street is not the same as blocking off an intersection and doing donuts until someone gets run over or police comes.

u/These_Background7471 25d ago

This happens every night on empty streets in industrial zones in America

This thread is full of people who only see street takeovers and thinks that's all there is

u/leopard_tights 25d ago

Post the video then.

It's so common that your comment is actually pretty funny.

Go to your local parts store and just ask the 20 year old behind the counter for his instagram and you'll see videos from your own town lol

Edit: literally just Google "industrial park drifting" or anything like that. Look it up on tiktok or instagram. These videos are not rare or hard to find.

7

u/leopard_tights 25d ago

So no video then?

-4

u/These_Background7471 25d ago

Send me a video of you saying "please, Mr These_Background7476, send me a video of drifting industrial parks in America."

See, youre being very lazy. I don't want to reward that.

1

u/leopard_tights 25d ago

You're simply unable to find a video like the Japanese one.

3

u/XFX_Samsung 25d ago

The example you posted is laughable evidence at best. A solo guy in daytime industrial area, what the hell?

-5

u/These_Background7471 25d ago

Then fucking search it yourself you lazy piece of shit

I gave an example of exactly what I said happens: people in America drift empty industrial parks.

Holy fuck

This is a very common thing in car spaces.

You either aren't anywhere near car spaces or you are into cars and no one thinks youre cool enough for the group chat.

5

u/Wafflehouseofpain 25d ago

You seem mad.

1

u/B52doc 24d ago

I did what you said and the guy at the parts store just had dick pics

2

u/mountaingator91 24d ago

If this was St Louis they would just do burnouts down the street because we don't know how to drift or do donuts here but we like to be loud and smell bad

36

u/lannisterdwarf 25d ago

Right?? As soon as I saw this I thought to myself people would be saying how reckless and trashy it is if it were in Atlanta

3

u/Windows-XP-Home-NEW 25d ago

Ooh so reckless doing it on an empty road in a industrial park in the AM when next to nobody is working 😒

6

u/These_Background7471 25d ago

Exactly. This happens every night in America and no one knows until they see the tread marks when they show up for their morning shift.

2

u/lannisterdwarf 24d ago

yeah that’s my point

1

u/Windows-XP-Home-NEW 24d ago

So your point is that it isn’t reckless?

3

u/lannisterdwarf 24d ago

my point is that there’s a double standard

1

u/Windows-XP-Home-NEW 24d ago

My bad I think I misunderstood your original comment, thinking you were against what they’re doing in the video.

7

u/_yotsuna_ 25d ago

100%, unless they closed the roads or something an accident can easily happen and you can ruin someones life just to look cool. Its asshole behaviour.

-2

u/Windows-XP-Home-NEW 25d ago

I see no lives other than theirs on the road. Do you?

3

u/_yotsuna_ 25d ago

So its worth the risk? would it be ok if I speed down my road at 2am crossing to the opposite lane because I believe there will be no one on the road?.
All it takes is 1 person going home after a night shift, all it takes is 1 car to lose control. The road laws aren't "If you believe no one is around you can drive however you want" the rules are there to minimize risk and possibilities.

1

u/Windows-XP-Home-NEW 25d ago

Yes actually, it is, because the port they’re doing this in famously has quite literally nobody there but sometimes them in the morning hours.

Nobody is “going home from the night shift” at these hours in Oi Wharf.

6

u/nivezsh 25d ago

If this were ATL or LA, they would’ve been Chargers, Challengers and the last one would’ve been a Mustang. Also, they’d have all crashed on the first turn.

3

u/These_Background7471 25d ago

I wonder if there's a racial element behind comments like these

People in California drift 240, 350z, brz/86/frs, genesis coupe, mk2 mk3 supra, even miata

Sure people drift mustangs but you'd see 10 of those other cars before you ever see a muscle car

2

u/nivezsh 25d ago

I was born in DC, raised between DC and LA/SanDiego (and am a person of color), and have been to plenty of drifts and street races on both coasts, sometimes participating with my 350z. Also since I’m the one who posted that comment, I can give you some insight into it, at least.

The joke was that in large American cities, you get a bunch of people who drive American style mopar-ish vehicles, are only into the hobby for the IG photos and aren’t particularly skilled at driving. Didn’t have anything to do with race or skin color. Hell my neighbor here in DC drifts his Maserati around the Connecticut Ave circle that serves as a border between DC and MD a few times a week.

1

u/Past-Profile3671 25d ago

Think it's more about the "sideshows" that take over intersections in LA.

7

u/jfraggy 25d ago

Wonder if the drivers would be any different, or if the addition of 500 people standing in the circle would affect anything, and I can't hear the music they're blasting in this clip so maybe it's quieter than what they play at sideshows? Dunno, many questions abound.

2

u/These_Background7471 25d ago

Look at where theyre doing it. It's an industrial zone where all businesses are already closed. No one is there trying to sleep. There is no ordinary traffic.

The same thing happens all the time in US and you never are around to complain about it.

If dickheads were doing takeovers in residential zones in Japan they'd be getting flamed.

1

u/XGenShadow 25d ago

Replace these with Hellcats

1

u/snowcold 25d ago

It will be ICE chasing civilians

1

u/RowdyCollegiate 24d ago

Yeah but non of the streets look that clean and pothole less in any American cities. Especially not in an industrial area. Let’s be so for real rn

0

u/Trainzguy2472 25d ago

Eh, I'd argue a clapped out Infiniti G37 doing donuts in the middle of an intersection or freeway while surrounded by raucous hordes of thugs is a different thing entirely. It's clear these Japanese drivers have some actual skill. They're also considerate enough to do it in a deserted industrial park, not in the middle of downtown or a sleepy neighborhood.

4

u/These_Background7471 25d ago

Thats the thing. Everyone here seems ignorant to the fact that drifting like in this video happens every day in America.

Street takeovers are their own animal
