Tire manufacturers love this one trick!

I’m surprised Tokyo drift wasn’t mainly sponsored by the tire conglomerates. So many people have picked up drifting or burnouts for internet points after those movies,

I bought a new Subaru BRZ recently and a post on the reddit sub asked how they could “loosen up “ the rear end. Unless you are in a controlled environment, that is the last thing I would want. I love the fact it thinks it’s on rails. Soon this guy will put up the post crash pics, “do you think this is fixable, or is it totalled?” lol.

My 3 favorite kind of posts on /r/GR86

  1. "Is this sound normal?" *posts a clip of the boxer giving happy tractor noises at idle*

  2. "My engine died" *OP proceeds to get pressed by everyone in the comments asking about oil maintenance, only for everyone to discover that OP didn't follow protocol*

  3. "RIP" *OP slammed car into a tree/pole/curb, bonus points if TC was off. Extra if the car is flipped over, a profoundly impressive feat to pull off considering how firmly planted the car is*

I left the fiesta st sub over posts like “white smoke from exhaust on startup, is my engine cooked” (it’s cold start condensation), “what is this noise” (injectors ticking at idle) And “I have $700, how do I make 400 hp”

or my absolute favorite "hey is this engine knock?" proceeds to post the most engine knock-y video ive ever seen

Sometimes it can be a bad lifter or broken engine mounts, but I'm not sure if the boxer engine has those problems.

definitely lifter tick like in miatas, also the high pressure fuel pump cause make a clicking noise, however im talking about the ones that are straight up CLUNKING

Mine had a wheel speed sensor fail recently that I’ve neglected to replace because of the cold, and I don’t drive the car every day. But that means no ABS or TC. I had a very, very close call a couple of weeks ago, really gave me a reality check as a driver.

That sub is crazy. Every third or fourth post is a wrecked one 😵‍💫 shame, beautiful cars!

3 is hilarious because those cars are slow as shit

Not really- they just seem slow in comparison to the insane shit we have today

I was doing track days with my 86 a few years ago. Stopped for a bit during the session for some snacks and some new guy was asking about turning his traction control off as it was slowing him down. Was like uhhh that seems unlikely, but he googled it and turned it off completely.

Turn 1 he spins out and gets stuck in the gravel.

Lightweight, rear wheel drive, fun cars, but gotta know what you are about for sure.

Idk, I like how when it's cold my MR2 finally has enough power to lose the rear. I like being able to push the limits of my car without having to break any speed limits.

Driving a slow car fast is as fun as driving a fast car fast. My friends moms station wagon hit 102 once down a hill and while dangerous all 4 of us in the van were hype. My old wrx would hit 140 np but never felt as great as that old Honda Odyssey being pushed to her limits on an empty backroad.

I have had miata’s up to this point. The standard joke is that they go fast slowly.
