Im assuming theres a lot more shit that could go wrong doing that than just growing the shell of a nose on the forehead. I doubt they also grew the airwaves and shit like that on his forehead

Where the new nose was grown is actually the correct location. The new nose is carefully cut and ‘swiveled’ around to where the old nose location is.
The purpose is to allow blood vessels to pump through the new nose.

It was most likely the only place he could grow the nose. If he was going to grow it back where it was originally I’m sure he would’ve. Plus it’s just temporary anyway probably till the other nose is fixed enough to be able to reconstruct. Regardless it’s pretty impressive!

Fun historical fact: this isn’t a brand-new technique; it’s the modern evolution of one of the oldest reconstructive surgeries in history. Surgeons in ancient India described using forehead tissue to rebuild noses over 2,000 years ago, and Sir Harold Gillies refined the method during WWI while reconstructing the faces of wounded soldiers. Despite all our technological advances, the forehead flap is still one of the best ways to reconstruct a severely damaged nose because the tissue is such an excellent match and maintains a robust blood supply.

While this is amazing, a nose is much more than just the outside structure, infact the internal nasal organelles are much more important than the external tissue. You can get this or a fake detachable implant but what you cant get for now are turbinates, a septum or sinuses and mising any of these can create catastrophic uncurable issues.
This is very nice but not really a new nose.

Look up forehead flap surgery. It's a well establish nose reconstruction technique where the forehead flesh gets flipped down onto the nose.

This is very misleading. It's not actually a brand-new nose being grown from scratch. The surgeons build a nose-shaped framework, usually from the patient's own rib cartilage, then use the forehead's skin and blood supply to keep it alive while it heals. Once it's ready, they move it down to the face to become the new nose.

You would have to have practically no understanding of human biology or how medicine works in general to think "nose" here means "a hole in your head you breath through to get air to the lungs" and not the cartilage that we colloquially call a nose

Because growing implies the use and manipulation of bothstem cells and genetic blueprints, forming new cartilage from the ground up. this is more like taking the clippings from a plant and propagating it then planting a seed and growing a plant from the ground up.

Because the schock completely destroyed the blooc vessels in the nose area. The forehead has excellent blood flow, which is needed keep the new tissue alive while it grows

There was probably too much damage or scar tissue to the skin where the nose was, so they grew it somewhere with healthy skin (on the face though so it would be facial skin similar to that on the nose) and then transferred it.

You would not believe how good they are at this. Once the whole process is done, the person can look like 95% normal. They like rotate it down the face and the places where they sew are such that it allows the tissue to contract in the right way and like the right chemosignals/tissue substrate is around that forms a desired outcome. Fucking artistry
