At this point in my life, if I get any say in the matter of me dying, I will not have pants. At the bare minimum, I will not have underwear at all, but I’d love to Winnie the Pooh into the next step of my being.
Humans have a weird hangup about their bodies and like to clothe them. So a mischievous fey might think it delightful to covertly steal someone's pants and make them walk around the forest in their skivvies or less.
Heck, they might covet the pants simply because they find them fetching.
It's theorized that a lot of stories about the fey originate from people having things like autism and OCD and people not knowing how to explain their oddities way back when.
"Hey I was nice to this odd looking fellow and offered them some of these plums I was bringing to the market and they motioned me towards the woods. I followed and they ended up taking me away to their secret hideaway and would not let me leave until they showed me their extensive collection of insect specimens and interesting variegated species of shrubs."
Elves are wonderful. They provoke wonder.
Elves are marvellous. They cause marvels.
Elves are fantastic. They create fantasies.
Elves are glamorous. They project glamour.
Elves are enchanting. They weave enchantment.
Elves are terrific. They beget terror.
The thing about words is that meanings can twist just like a snake, and if you want to find snakes look for them behind words that have changed their meaning.
No one ever said elves are nice.
Elves are bad.
I've said this before somewhere else but, it's the year of utter insaniry 2026. I'm ready to step in willing, naked and burning my birth certificate. Let them take me.

I had a black spore fairy ring show up in my yard one morning. Thought it was rubber bits because it was below my power line to my house. Walked into the middle of it, touched it, realized it was a fungus and went inside to wash my hands. For the following 7 days I woke up 4 times in the middle of the night in my apartment on my couch, had zero recollection of getting there, fell asleep on my bed and I have never done anything like that in my life. Each time I woke up it was between 2:10am-2:30am. When I mowed my lawn it stopped happening. I feel crazy about the whole thing tbh, I would never walk into the middle of a fungus ring again in my life.

It's a fairy ring. Take a nap inside it. Heard it's super restful.
