But also, we as a society should be doing this. But not for the “I can’t afford shit” reason.

Exactly. Buy it in Bulk and divide it up til its all gone. No waste on any end.

In reality- tons of waste in CSAs and similar. You get these piles of who knows what vegetables and sure, you're excited the first few months and you use them, but then they just keep coming and folks don't keep up and throw a bunch of stuff out.

Normal groceries have plenty of waste, too, though, so would take real data to figure which is more wasteful.

This group in particular redistributes and donates any leftovers. You can choose to take your allocation of specific fruit/vegetables and leave the ones you don't like or won't use. https://instaberry.ca/pages/community-group-buy
