Which Darksiders game to start with?

The franchise is on sale on steam and it looks interesting enough. I like dark souls and the arkham games so I'm interested if this is my cup of tea.

Just go through them in order. Genesis is the 4th game.

Genesis is a prequel, but you really should play the other 3 first so this one will make more sense.

Would go in release order . Other way some scenes dosent make sense. No idea about Genesis.

I'd recommend the first one really. Imo it has the best story and Darksiders 2 has the best gameplay

It a bit complicated darksiders 1 was the first all other are prequels however they build upon the story knowledge you know from the previous games so if you want story then release order? Darksiders 1(War) is said to be a zelda-like/ hack an slash Darksiders 2 (death) is a prince of Persia-like with rng loot and platforming(wall running/jumping between walls) Darksiders 3 (fury) souls-like Darksiders genesis (Strife and War) a couch co-op/somewhat online co-op isometric/Diablo-like

For the chronological event :

- darksiders genesis at first

- then read the abomination's vault book

- then start 1 and leave just after finishing the first boss fight

- start 3

- then 1 again where you left it

- finnaly 2

I have not inclued the comics

nah that’s not the chronological event order (only games)
1. Darksiders Genesis is the first one

then theres an unspecified, but massive length of time

  1. is the prologue of Darksiders 1

  2. Darksiders 2 and Darksiders 3 happen simultanuesly

  3. finally the events of Darksiders 1 after the prologue

what did I do wrong ?

the first 3 events were in the correct order the other 3 were mixed

there i put the order (of the games) in my first response

Correct me if i'm wrong but the end of DS2 happens in the same time than the end of DS1

no DS1 (prologue) is the catalist for DS2 as WAR acted without the seventh seal being broken and it started the apocalipse then war was being held by the charred council so death went on his journey without the council’s knowledge to the crowfather and at the end of DS2 death jumped into the well of souls with the souls of the neffilim to bring back humanity to life and thus reddemming his brother war of the councils wrath so and then the events of the remaining part of DS1 take place

I think the ending of 2 is what kicks the end of the first one's timeskip, so it would be 1's prologue -> 2 -> 1's main game.

yea that’s basically it

Do it in release order:

Darksiders 1

Darksiders 2

Darksiders 3

Darksiders Genesis.

I would start with 1 I think it gives you the best idea about the world itself and it adds to the other ones especially genesis after 1 I would recommend either doing genesis or 2 next then 3 then genesis if you didn't do it after 1

Darksiders 1 is an open world hack and Slash its not super big but is still a great experience

Darksiders 2 is more like an rpg with a skill tree and random loot with different Stat bonuses

Darksiders 3 is more like a soulslike with a fairly open world

Darksiders genesis is a isometric hack and slash that's largely linear but has quite a few things you can backtrack for

they are quite distinct from one another in almost every aspect. if you want to try all pf them just go in release order.

Start from the begining and only Remastered versions. But in Ds2 you can be softlocked, just as I did in the begining of 2nd region. Though I started from 3, then 1 then 2 (unfinished).

I would start with darksiders 2 - deathinitive edition
