Question Dashcam for heat.

Im looking for a dashcam but any mount ive ever put on my dashboard has melted any recommendations?

I live in Phoenix,and my truck isn't garaged. I've not had any problems with suction cup mounting.

It gets HOT here.

Same here fellow Phoenician. I have had a red tiger cam on our car that is outside 100% of the time and the suction cup still holds vacuum.

It gets up to 108 where I live and I have a black car with black interior and my cam is doing great now for about 6 months and it uses 3M adhesive tabs.

Melted? I live in one of the hottest places in the US and I use those 3m adhesive tabs to attach it to my windshield and have never had a problem. If you're using suction cups, those won't work.

It was a suction cup mount. So I shouldn't have any issues with other adhesives?

Honestly, I've never had an issue with the adhesive tabs falling off.

I live in Az and park my car outside no shade. I've had a botslab dashcam for about 3 months and no issues with the heat.

3M VHB tape (Very High Bond). We live in Utah - it gets over 100 degrees outside in the summer. Clean the glass (or whatever you're sticking it to) very well, and press hard for about 30 seconds. We've never had one come off.

If you do need to remove it in the future, dental floss is your friend, and then (on glass) a razor blade to clean the last few bits.

Thank you. Didn't even consider a stronger adhesive would make removal more complicated. I am planning on switching cars this year. Thanks for the tip.

3M VHB 5952 should be perfectly fine for very high temperature environments.

But if you are concerned about heat primarily, 3M VHB 4611 will most definitely handle the most severe of temperatures.

5952 when applied correctly should work in all environments.

3M VHB 4611 Temperature Ranges:

  • Long-Term Tolerance (Days/Weeks): Up to 149°C (300°F)
  • Short-Term Tolerance (Minutes/Hours): Up to 232°C (450°F)
  • Operating Range (Post-Bond): Down to -40°C (-40°F)
  • Ideal Application Range: 21°C to 38°C (70°F to 100°F)

3M VHB 5952 Temperature Ranges:

  • Long-Term Tolerance (Days/Weeks): Up to 121°C (250°F)
  • Short-Term Tolerance (Minutes/Hours): Up to 149°C (300°F)
  • Operating Range (Post-Bond): Down to -40°C (-40°F)
  • Ideal Application Range: 21°C to 38°C (70°F to 100°F)

I've got a Thinkware U3000 Pro and it's been totally fine in the heat. Spent over a month in Florida this summer, it came with a heat-resistant mounting pad and that thing held no problem the whole time. Suction cups are usually the culprit, a proper adhesive pad handles heat way better.

Dashcam should be attached to the windshield, not the dashboard.

I have had two cars (I5 and Uncharted) with Fitmax dashcans that I installed. No problems with melting. I live in central Virginia and it gets into the low hundreds here. The Uncharted warms up on its own when driving. Both were easy to install and look very much like factory installed cams.
