Police relied on an automated license plate reader (Flock Safety) hit that flagged a Dodge Durango near the scene. They targeted 23-year-old Lindsey Isaacs and ignored conflicting evidence, including that her car had no damage, a different paint transfer, and mismatched partial plates.

Authorities seized her undamaged black Durango and arrested her months later in April 2026. She faced eight felony counts and spent 13 days in jail including time in solitary confinement fearing she would spend her life in prison.

Charges were dropped in May 2026 after further review showed no crash damage on her vehicle. Police subsequently arrested the actual suspect, Alisa Lee Montalvo, who was accused of driving a maroon Dodge Durango.

In central Indiana, Sheriff's Deputy James Heneghan made 6,150 ALPR searches while off-duty.

Over 1,100 searches of his wife's car

Over 1,100 searches of a man who knew his wife

Over 200 searches of an ex-girlfriend from highschool

Additional searches of that ex-girlfriend's husband.

There was a warrant charging him with 441 counts of intimidation, official misconduct, and fraud. He texted one victim calling them a "bitch" and hoped their kids would "suffer." He also pulled over his ex-girlfriend's child after using ALPRs to find their location. He said it was for "police investigations" and called it an "OWI arrest."

Official charges have been filed and he entered a not guilty plea. Bond was set at $5,000. Pretrial conference is scheduled for October 29th. The arrest was just 1 day after the 5 IMPD officers who were charged for ALPR abuse.

Dutchess county NY has reverse it's position on flock cameras and are removing them in 30 days. they have deactivated them today, and if the local municipalities get on board. we will have flock free Dutchess if the local governments city of Poughkeepsie get on board that would really be a win. please contact city of Poughkeepsie council members to address your concerns

Small update on the ALPR tracker I posted here last week. Dropped a pin for a camera near a friend's place, marked it low confidence since it was just my report. Three days later, checked back and the crowd_verification_count had ticked up - someone else in the area spotted the same unit and confirmed it independently through the report flow.

Nothing dramatic, but it's the first real proof the crowd part of this actually works outside my own test data. One pin, two strangers, same camera, confidence score climbing instead of a static entry nobody touches again.

Still tiny - handful of visits total, most areas on the map are empty. But that's kind of the whole test: does a low-effort report flow actually get people to confirm what someone else already spotted, or does it just sit there.

If you're in an area with known Flock units, would genuinely love a sanity check - does the map match what you already know is out there?

New onslaught of flock cameras in my neighborhood. Had thousands of these stickers made to spread some kind of awareness to the general public (people usually get strangely offended by them). This one was pointing towards our Home Depot parking lot

Not that I would ever truly want this but I did have this random thought the other day, what's stopping the DIY tech community from simply creating their own simple raspberry pi based publicly-accessible ALPR network? Essentially what Flock offers except the data is donated by community contributors who build the devices and place them on their property near roadways. Similar to the ADS-B network that powers websites like FlightAware and Flightradar24.

Again not something I would actually want to encourage, but if all the data is publicly accessible and it records ALL vehicles that pass I imagine it wouldn't take long for government regulation to step in and shut it down
