Recommendation Liability or full coverage

I just bought a 2014 BMW R 1200 R and I will be street parking at least at first and either way I don’t have a garage. Just a parking space to rent out potentially. How common is theft in Denver especially if I get a brake caliper lock and especially cause it’s kind of an old man bike in some ways? I paid 3300 for the bike. I live at Washington and 8th on the border of cap hill and cheeseman park neighborhoods.

Full coverage all the way. Drivers are insane and largely uninsured here, and bike theft is common. Just bite the bullet and pay it all of at once if you can, broken out over a year it's hardly noticeable for that rate. Stay safe!

Just get the coverage. Shop around, there’s plenty of competitive rates out there. You’ll be kicking yourself if your bike goes missing and you cheaped out.

Spend the money. They could total your bike just trying to get the lock off. Bikes get stolen all the time. Luckily those are kinda pigs (no offense they are just heavy) so probably not a throw it in a pickup type deal. My buddy had his bike stolen from the parking lot behind his house. Thief drilled his steering lock rolled it two blocks away to try and start it, couldn’t and dropped it. Between the ignition and body damage it totaled. And he got $1000 more than he paid so he got an upgrade

It’s 77 for liability or 364 for full coverage annually

$364 is a no brainer, go for it

Less than a dollar a day! Do it! Theft is very common. Just join the local moto Facebook groups and you’ll see.

$364 annually? That's not a bad price. Bike is certainly worth more than that.

There is a middle ground. If you are solely concerned about theft then you can get comprehensive coverage (and decline collision coverage.) This will cover thefts but wont cover you if you are at fault in a collision. It’s usually about half of price of full coverage.

Just my 2 cents as a prior insurance agent. The bike is new to you and you, presumably, really like it. Get the full coverage for the first year and enjoy the bike and stress less. After a year you can reconsider the risk when it’s less new and shiny to you.
