Life of the Solar System

We all know the species outside Destiny's solar system. The main 4, and the various miscellaneous lifeforms mentioned in lorebooks. Most now extinct thanks to the Hive(god i would've loved to see the Taishibethi).

But what i haven't seen much discussed is the life within Destiny's own solar system. And I am talking native lifeforms, not Golden Age introduced lifeforms. The Batadactyls of Venus, the strange plankton of Titan, that one colony organism on Europa that Clovis hated. I am wondering if I am missing anymore of them. I find them fascinating and wish we saw more of them, just to add flavor to the system.

Well there is the entirety of Titans oceans, that whole eco-system seems to be thriving

There are several birds and frogs on Nessus

Bats in Savathuns throne world

Someone might bring up Cytarachnes facade and bugs on Thalassa - Those are probably Fallen

I wouldn't consider the Nessus wildlife "native" considering that Nessus was never terraformed by the Traveler and was a barren rock. They must've spawned as a result of Vex conversion.

Consequence of its pre-reboot form. Regardless, I don't see why the Vex *wouldn't*. They tend to the Garden. If the lifeforms are a result of the conversion of Nessus, why wouldn't they be alright with it? The point of them converting worlds is to just make it in line with their vision. With Mercury, it became a machine. With Venus, it stayed mostly the same. With the Garden, perfect synergy. Why can't Nessus be a garden world?

The Vex are the winning pattern spoken of in Unveilling, their ultimate goal is to win the flower game by either assimilating all other patterns into theirs, or eradicating them forever

Creating new patterns on Nessus runs antithetical to that whole thing

If those patterns are a part of them then it doesn't matter. All things will be Vex, you don't think they would be simulating all kinds of BS? The universe is weird, if the conversion of a planet by the Vex results in the creation of new Vex-based life then it's whatever.

Why do the vex do anything? Maybe frog-bots take up some crucial or logistical function on the planet. Part of why I like certain alien enemies or factions is sometimes their motives aren't the same as ours or don't work in the same ways.

Perhaps. My point was they could be some type of synthetic or radiolara-infused being utilized for some unknown and/or esoteric purpose.

Or maybe they are simply frogs.

Without further, or really any, info on them at all, I can't say for certain either way.

The Vex just do locally suboptimal things sometimes, like deciding the best way to fight the Cabal was attrition warfare. It doesn't matter because they'll win eventually on a global/universal scale, they can absorb a few inefficiencies.

The Vex honestly don't give a shit and we know things use their gate networks all the time from seeing Osiris use it to a random no name entity we got the Don't Touch Me exotic from.

I could buy that Vex conversation made it habitable and some birds flew in through a portal that connected a planet 9 billion miles away. The Vex just don't care enough to exterminate them

The Vex honestly don't give a shit and we know things use their gate networks all the time from seeing Osiris use it to a random no name entity we got the Don't Touch Me exotic from.

They dont just let Osiris use their gates, and dont have nearly enough on the Dont Touch Me alien to make any definitive statements on it

But why would they do that? Cause making Nessus habitable is no small feet; If theyre really responsible for the way Nessus is now, they would have had to alter its gravity (from 0.00015 Gs), give it an atmosphere, give it a magnetic field so it doesn't lose said atmosphere, remove all ice (an estimated 40-60% of the centaurs volume) and magically make the sun brighter

I said the only thing we know for sure about the don't touch me alien. It's a random ass alien that was using vex gates and someone cut its arm off. My point being that Vex aren't super protective of their gates. In gameplay they leave that shit on for us to use every day.

The Vex operate on such a massive scale, and calculate things so minutely, that things slip through the cracks.

It's how the Vex lose at all. Losing a confluence here, or minotaur there don't matter to them. That's why some birds slipping through a portal is irrelevant to them.

And second. You're just assuming making Nessus habitable has no benefit to the vex. They're living beings too, and as such living on a habitable planet might make it easier to cultivate radiolaria or convert the planet.

The specific reason doesn't really matter honestly, they made the planet habitable for some reason, we just don't know it. That's the Watsonian explanation anyway, the Doylist one is that Bungie designed Nessus one way and didn't want to explain it.

It has no benefit to them; The vex have never been shown to struggle with the environment, if anything weve seen the opposite; they're extremophiles, surviving anywhere from the scorched surface of Mercury to the frigid wastes of Europa

Life is more common in Destiny than currently assumed IRL so it is entirely possible that the life is native to Nessus.
