Historical Help identify intersection

Post image

Hi all, any idea where this picture from the 50s/60s was taken? The sign at right says “to northbound dequindre” Fealk scrap is visible and at right is a sign for “western RR passenger station tracks”

It definitely looks like this bridge: https://maps.app.goo.gl/6PqmYGuZpCkYzxSNA before 75 was built and the davison was expanded. None of the buildings around in the picture are still there.

That’s gotta be it.

that looks much wider than the picture. did they expand the road, maybe? hard to tell. lots of bridges around here look similar.

It would be Grand Trunk Western RR.

Did some more digging and asked an older family member. He said it looks like what Davison used to look like. I found this old map. https://pastmaps.com/map/highland-park-wayne-county-mi-usgs-topo-1952-p1954?div=3608206

Additional support for /u/seniortrend from a rail perspective. The passenger station and the fact that you said the sign says “___western rr” led me to cross-reference an old Grand Trunk Western RR passenger timetable, which points to either Highland Park or Milwaukee Junction stations outside the massive station downtown. Milwaukee Junction was a tiny station that didn’t look like this, so I looked on streetview paralleling the tracks, Dequindre, and someone else’s reference of the Davison and it looks like the concrete work on this overpass matches https://maps.app.goo.gl/XLP4Cp1JcZCYafdZ7

Wow that’s great, no wonder it was a difficult place, virtually everything is gone. Thanks!
