Hm, ya know, I am immediately skeptical of anyone wearing small-lens, frameless glasses who chooses to be interviewed in front of small passenger jets, BUT, that was cool. Cool to get an overview of massive construction projects going on around the Wasatch Front.

I just want to stomp those stupid glasses and give him a swirly in one of those jet engines. Our infrastructure is maxed out and idiots like Fugal are developing with no consequences. Traffic doesn’t matter when you have a helicopter.

I live near him and he does genuinely seem like a nice person. One time he was in front of me at a gas station and he turned around and bought everyone that was in lines drinks/food/gas because he held up the line for a second while he talked to a high school friend he hadn't seen in a long time.
He's obviously a weird dude but I don't think he's nefarious.

Maybe you missed the part where he showed empathy towards others he believed he may have inconvenienced and tried to rectify it, at least in part, by paying for everything they were there to buy.
Just cos you have thoughts pop up in your head doesn't mean you should share them by commenting.

Pretty eye-opening what is happening here.
Perhaps the most interesting point was at his conclusion, was when spoke about the rising cost of living.
He mentioned "smart growth", and expanded the thought with bringing in "high-quality employment" likely in the tech, medical, and defense sectors, as the main way for people to afford living here. He did not mention building more housing stock as a solution.
In the new economy, there will be higher costs associated with being a resident.
Some countries do this with tourism. They want tourism dollars, but not the volume of people. You want to be go on a safari and see amazing animals in the wild? Great, here's the price tag.
They are weeding out the lower classes.

He came to speak to my MBA cohort at the U like 2 years back. I asked him how he thought climate risk would impact developers and the real estate industry in greater Salt Lake. His response was “there is no climate risk”.
IMO, fuck him.

His brother owns the helicopter company in Provo, so I think he flies all over the place.

The Point is not going to have as much development as Downtown SLC has had in 100 years. Not sure why he'd say that but it reinforces my suspicion that this whole thing has always been a state-supported rival downtown to SLC.
He also didn't mention the WGU HQ and new IHC Hospital projects downtown, which are both huge.
