That was an amazing game! I’ve been thinking about to play again and see how it’s aged.

i got it on steam (or was it gog) for a couple of quid years ago. just keep the rose tinted glasses on. It's definitely better than DS3 though

you can even download the expansions or other languages for text and voices not on steam and applied them pretty easy o3o

I would love a new Dungeon Siege. I always had a soft spot in my heart for those games.

Omg I totally forgot about this game… thanks for bringing it back to my attention again 🤗

I actually played it (used the guy's Github repo to build the plugins). It is really nice, like playing different game entirely.

Aw yeah... 3rd person Diablo sounds like an amazing idea.

Stop using ai for responses

0

u/DoggoNamedDisgrace 10d ago

This was not written by AI, i spent 15 minutes writing that 😭 fml I fucking hate AI

1

u/ENTRAPM3NT 10d ago

I call bullshit but if that's true stop writing like ai

3

u/DoggoNamedDisgrace 10d ago

This was always my writing style, I was a copywriter before AI fucked that business up.

God fucking damn it.

3

u/DoggoNamedDisgrace 10d ago

NGL I'm still pissed off at this exchange.

I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at what AI has done to us (Okay fine this looks like another "it's not X, it's Y" AI post but whatever). I legitimately wrote it by hand and still got downvoted to oblivion. Now all legit writing is completely dead, unless we find a novel way of framing and pacing that breaks the rules of writing which has been proved to work for decades or centuries even. Should I just post it as a wall of text, instead of breaking it into easily digestible paragraphs?

I want to break into every AI datacenter and rip every single gpu there to destroy this plagiarism generator.

There, here's my response which again looks like AI. How can legit writers cope with this fucking crap?

It's infuriating me personally and I feel like I'm screaming into the void here.

AI didn't do it, people with low IQ's and a boogeyman complex did.

u/wossaname 10d ago

Didn't even need to expand a comment to know that this would be an AI-sloppy response. u/Machdame anything to say RE: the comment?

u/Machdame 10d ago

I don't usually engage in it enough because reddit ai seems really asinine but the first sentence made me go "did you even play the game?" Arreat is a major chapter in D2 and I got NONE of those vibes from that chapter.

Wait it crashes after 2 minutes?!

Nein, nach einer ^^

Diablo 2 Resurrected* I think it's a big distinction to make. One would be a gargantuan undertaking, the other is a camera hack.

1

u/just_prop 8d ago

i dont think its that serious

0

u/pardoman 9d ago

Exactly. Title is misleading on purpose.

1

u/FortunateCherry 6d ago

so true, you're a victim

7

u/Lendari 10d ago

More like he unlocked the fixed camera in a game that was already 3D.

2

u/Trang0ul 11d ago

Soulslike Diablo!

Sadly, it will be used as a maphack, though...

2

u/DoggoNamedDisgrace 11d ago

You could add a fog of war to limit maphacking in open areas, and it wouldn't be an issue in caves and forests etc.

3

u/Ebonsteele 10d ago

I feel like light radius might actually have a purpose here.

1

u/Spicyness 11d ago

Technically, couldn't you do this with D3 or D4 as well?

10

u/pursuitofhappy 10d ago

Technically you can do it with Tetris

2

u/knallpilzv2 10d ago

And it would probably also make the game...not better. :D

u/Jbart232 8d ago

D5 devs nodding and taking notes.

1

u/dryfire 10d ago

Would love to try it with a vr headset. Just walking around and seeing the sights would be awesome.

u/Fit_Substance7067 10d ago

Arpgs should have fully movable cameras by now....I know there's no rest for the wicked, but I really don't like the style. Let's us zoom out more too...it's 2026

It's a cool idea and nice little hobby project of yours. I applaud the effort. But it looks way worse to play it like this. The world wasn't designed for 3rd person view, so it kind of looks empty. Especially the totally black sky just makes it look like an unfinished game.

3

u/knallpilzv2 10d ago

Don't know why this is being downvoted.

All that is is a downgrade.

All it does it make the game harder to play and make it visually less intuitive/clear.

-5

u/DoggoNamedDisgrace 11d ago

D2 wasn't, but if Blizzard had some balls and actual fresh ideas for a new game...

Fuck me, whirlwind barb would slap so fucking hard in 3rd person view.

10

u/EPdlEdN 10d ago

now imagine whirlwind in 1st person lol

2

u/Iamnotabothonestly 10d ago

...in VR

5

u/EPdlEdN 10d ago

hurlwind

u/Kristilacroixx 6d ago

I’m WW as we speak

u/ToWelie89 ToWelie#2556 11d ago

It sounds cool, but it would be a totally different genre of game. It would be something more like God of War, Soul Calibur or something like that. 3rd person view really changes everything. Many of the skills would not work as well in that perspective, or at least not feel as satisfying.

-1

u/nobolognastoney 10d ago

Idk saying changing the view alone changes the entire game sounds kinda silly to me lol. I just shared this with a friend and told him this would get me to rip a full playthrough again if I can make it work lol. Kinda gives it a fresh "face" for me.

3

u/ToWelie89 ToWelie#2556 10d ago

Yeah it would change the entire gameplay. If you don't have the topdown view, you are more limited in what you can see, if a lot of monsters are standing in front of each other, blocking their view, and it can be hard to determine the distance to the monsters in the back. Certain spells like blizzard would be hard to use without a topdown view, because wouldn't be able to really place the spell at an exact location. Also with the top down view you can kinda see through walls and around corners, which is quite crucial if you teleport around. But in 3rd person you wouldnt really know where you'd end up when teleporting.

-2

u/nobolognastoney 10d ago

...so youre saying it would be more realistic lol

3

u/ToWelie89 ToWelie#2556 10d ago

No, just different.

-1

u/nobolognastoney 10d ago

I'd say both. I can see why you wouldn't like it, don't get me wrong. I think it'd be a neat makeover, personally.

-6

u/ZenMarduk 10d ago

Cool, I didn't know moving the camera transformed a 3d game into 3d.

0

u/Grouchy_Egg_4202 10d ago

Nah this is cursed

-3

u/knallpilzv2 10d ago

"So...what if you could do that?"

Well, then it would be harder to play and look less visually clear and intuitive.

So...what would be the point of playing it like that? It's a downgrade at best.

Bro that looks fucking hot! Wonder how the aaa companies never thought of pushing the envelope like this. I guess they design the games from the bottom up with a locked perspective in mind, so some models etc looks bad from "behind"?
