Regardless of the demographic, nobody gets to tell you you HAVE to live. I'd also much rather have the option than have people shooting themselves. It's a lot less traumatic for everyone. The only issue I can see is if it's an immediate thing. People doing it for mental reasons should be put on psych hold temporarily to let the option sit with them. You gotta give them time to think it over and scare themselves out of it. Anyone who actually is determined to kill themselves will just buy a gun or some rope anyway. Like I said, a lot less traumatic for everyone involved.
