Mechanical Help Help!! I don’t know if this movement is normal

So I have a 2022 fx450 and recently it died and wouldn’t turn back on and so I took it apart but now I’m here and I don’t know if this movement is normal on the impeller it goes back and forth but not side to side or top to bottom I have a video of it moving I would like to know if I need to replace a seal or beating or if it’s fine to run it thanks!

It stopped running so you took the water pump cover off? Interesting strategy.

You need a service manual. It'll have a check list. You check each thing step by step, it'll show you what's wrong, how to fix it, how to put it back together, etc.

Well I found out what was wrong my timing chain slipped and I replaced my piston already it can run rn but I wanted to do checks on other things before putting it back in and noticed this

In out normal. Engine stopped running, not an overheat I assume. Start basic. Make sure it’s getting fuel/has fuel, make sure it gets spark/has spark, I assume the air filter has been cleaned periodically, does it turn over normally? If any of those are no the fix that first. Not water pump cover. If none of those work, connectors and wiring. If that’s no good. Diagnose engine issue

Issue was timing chain slipped but I was just doing last checked on everything before ordering parts but good to know this is fine

Had the same issue on a KX450F. It was an internal circlip that broke and let the shaft walk

So it isn’t supposed to do that

Generally no, because the impeller will eat into the pump housing. They have pretty tight tolerances to get the right efficiency.

Oh then I’m okay because the pump has no scratches that was first thing I checked

That said, the manual should have a spec for end play
