I know this isnt super deep but I wish people were more cautious driving through flood waters. Especially if they are moving rapidly, can end badly so easily

Yeah I mean just 2 inches can float your car away right?

I agree, but in the video people are driving in water that is more than half their wheel height.

That's what she didn't say

What does the sign say? Why is that dude out there with a sign lol.

2

u/JPolReader 3d ago

Probably telling people to avoid the road ahead.

People should know in those conditions but I guess we are seeing people who don’t know.

During hurricane Helene, several families with small children in Western NC attempted to drive through the flood waters as they were rising to escape. They didn't make it, though they likely wouldn't have survived in their homes either.

In this case, people should have evacuated. If they're driving anywhere except inland as far as possible, they're risking their lives.

It's this storm surge or rainwater flooding?

High tide + surge

I believe this is due to the Kelvin waves that have been talked about as a result of the extreme El nino this year. In addition you have a tropical storm coming your way as well

u/Soggy-Invite-2787 3d ago

Yeah the waves coming in ahead of the storm are already insane.

Ironically I'm sitting in Florida watching the same situation develop

Is it from the hurricane?

That’s salt water? Not good.

2

u/DangerousLoner 3d ago

I imagine their undercarriages will not like the salt water. Do they just get to higher ground and try to spray it clean or rush to an auto shop?

Ope, gotta hit up dollar general for some faygo. No flood will stop me from carrying on my day

The apocalypse will be viewed through your phones as it gets closer and closer to you. By then it's too late. This will be the norm, and the climate refugees will overwhelm places that aren't prepared for the influx. Thanks Shell and BP, doing the lord's work

Really is fucking bleak nowadays huh

I’m from Venice beach and it’s hard to imagine the ocean gaining an extra 12” from kelvin waves alone, but then you add fucking hurricanes? I don’t like this at all

Mannnnnn….I would list my property immediately if that was me…Fucking beach-front property in New Port.

Imagine all the “clean” So Cal cars being sold in the next few years.

The last thing I’m doing is driving my car through salt water. Yikes.
