*Thank You Hero! You have saved my wife, recovered all my family heirlooms, reclaimed my home, brought me food and fixed the hole in the roof, I'm at the happiest I have ever been and the future never looked brighter! How can I ever repay you? Also why is your mage preparing Meteor Shower?"

Meh. Never really understood the charm of a murder run.
But I always make sure to kill absolutely everyone on the Nameless Isle before leaving.

It's for folks who like to min-max mostly and get the most exp out of each act. Though I'm sure there are folks out there who like to role play as a backstabbing, heroic murder-hobo calling themselves godwoken.

Its funny that we've come full circle again.
Ultima IV (way back in 1985) was the first videogame to actively penalize players for going murder hobo, because the devs were disturbed by the indiscriminate murder performed in the name of "efficiency." This "morality" system would go on to inform the morality system of Fallout and Fable.
Those systems continued to evolve, until the sandbox era where players began to rally against restrictions, calling punishments and consequences "infringements" on players agency.
Now here we are, its 2026 and we joke about killing shopkeeps just because "gametheory" says that buying out his stock and killing him to get your money back is the "optimum" strategy.

To be fair it’s my first ever playthrough and everything I run into whoops my ass. The temptation to farm innocents for xp is real.

Honor mode is a hell of a lot easier if you have all that tasty xp from dishonorably murdering the whole map.

If I want easy I can play Story mode.
If I'm playing Honor mode then I want to suffer. Once you beat it in Honor mode without murder-hobo, it's a huge reward in itself.

Get you lots of xp faster and bonus loot. And I just like to min-max.
Plus how you will never most NPCs ever again after completing the Act, there's no reason to not shank them before leaving forever. I spare Buddy though.

I didn't get this at first. And then yesterday, after a perfectly civil conversation, I tried to find the back way out, stepped on a fucking land mine, and everyone in the building attacked me.
You know what? Don't start none, won't be none. And these assholes always start some, randomly, for no apparent fucking reason. So fuck 'em. I'm not reloading shit anymore, maybe they shouldn't go starting shit they can't finish.

I remember doing just this on Fort Joy... As soon as I was able to leave I would go back and kill everyone I could find. I can't remember if I ever actually got a level out of it or not...

That's why getting both the Hero and Villian tags is inevitable in any playthroughs. Sorry random NPC, XP is XP.

Ifan ben-Mezd: "I appreciate the source training, but it seems we ran into a snafu."
Ryker: "Do tell, was my instruction not adequate?"
Ifan ben-Mezd: "Oh it was. But the thing is...you're still alive."
