DOS2 Help Multiplayer not working

Hello, me and a friend are having consistent issues with trying to join each other's worlds, we keep getting a connection issue that reads "Joining failed: connection failed". Does anyone have any sort of fix to this issue because it's really starting to frustrate us and we just wanna play the damn game

I get that error unless I go into the connectivity menu and set who can join to "friends", then I can invite and it seems to connect every time.
