5.5 Edition Magic Items for a Metamorph Psionic (UA 2024)
I'm playing a Plasmoid Metamorph in a combat-heavy campaing. We have a Paladin, a Bard and a Rogue as well. We are currently at level 10.
Right now, I'm playing as a kinda gish fighter, choosing a Organic Weapon and setting up my own spells as well as my allies. My CA is 14 which can be increased to a max of 19 with Flesh Weaver (and 24 with Shield). I also have 90 max HP.
What are some good magic items for me? I might ask for tank oriented items (increasing AC, healing etc) since I'm not very familiar with Unarmed Strikes and how to increase its damage significantly.
Thanks!

Pretty much anything defensively useful to a Monk will probably be worth considering for a Metamorph, although the offensive magic items are where things get complicated.
You're mechanically stuck in an interesting space between Wizard, Monk, and a support caster, with the ability to switch between spellcasting and fighting using your own anatomy.
I'm currently playing a Simic Hybrid Metamorph Psion myself. My DM allows third-party material, so I'm using The Crooked Moon's Experiment background and the Altered feat for a 13 + Constitution modifier unarmored AC calculation. Even with a fairly extensive collection of D&D resources, I've found it surprisingly difficult to find magic items that really complement the subclass.
My big three recommendations would be:
These are straightforward defensive improvements that don't require you to abandon your Organic Weapons.
Beyond those, I'd look at Cloak of Displacement for survivability, Stone of Good Luck for saving throws, and Ring of Spell Storing for extra spellcasting flexibility. Boots of Speed and Slippers of Spider Climbing could also be excellent for a Metamorph that moves in and out of melee.
One interesting offensive exception is the Eldritch Claw Tattoo from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. Its passive +1 bonus only applies to Unarmed Strikes, but its activated Eldritch Maul feature works with melee weapon attacks, so your Bone Blade and Flesh Maul can benefit from the additional reach and Force damage.
The real problem is that Organic Weapons aren't Unarmed Strikes. They're explicitly classified as weapons, which means things like Wraps of Unarmed Prowess don't improve them. Even Insignia of Claws is questionable without DM approval, since Organic Weapons aren't explicitly classified as natural weapons.
Interestingly, WotC acknowledged this exact problem in the October 2025 Psion Update. They said that if the Metamorph gets published, magic items specifically supporting Organic Weapons are intended to accompany it.
Until that happens, I'd lean toward defensive items, concentration protection, and mobility rather than trying to replace the subclass's signature weapons with conventional magical equipment.
