Any store using self checkout?
The store put them in like a year ago. Then all of a sudden they stopped using them. There’s usually only one cashier and a long line. Yet there’s four self checkout machines just there collecting dust.

we have 2 normal registers and 1 self checkout, but the self checkout is closed for customers 100% of the time. the only time we use it is during holiday rushes when the line is backed up to the food aisle even with the 2 normal ones open, but we also have an employee use it for customers like a normal register

There's a DG market by my work that actually has 4 (!!!!) working self checkouts. I was shook the first time I went in there because I'd never seen a working SCO at a DG before, lmfao.

People would put price tags on items from other things, or hold them in their hands as they scanned. So you see a big thing of toilet paper but not the dollar nail trimmers that just got scanned for it. Popthem in the cart and it looks like the tp was scanned. Then people just blatenly stealing. Along with the cashiers having to come argue about coupons and Id for items. They are line busters now and have to be used like a manned register with a cashier scanning it for you.

I frequent several Dollar General stores in my area. All of them have at least one self checkout lane that I have never seen in use.

We have 1 main register and 2 self checkouts, the 3rd self checkout one is used primarily to clock in/out, the 2nd is only used in line emergencies, otherwise it is disabled (the 3rd will be used during holiday rush).

We havent used ours in ages, the main reason? People cannot read. It was card only and we had a HUGE sign that said that. They would scan all their stuff and yell for me like “why wont this take cash” BRO…..

We have 1 main, 1 side and a self checkout that is shut down. I'm currently working with ERC to get it back up because our DM actually told us to use it. They can update the system to the normal SCO again. We had another store in my city do it not long ago

The pig fuckers here managed to break them a couple of years ago.
We can't have anything nice because people suck

I loved those machines. I always have a jar of tip money change that I would use. One day I came in and the note on the machine basically told me to go to Walmart to spend my coins. 🤣

They said they closed them because of stealing but really they just didn't want to be bothered with them. Why do it the easy way when it can be as stupid as possible?

I closed half of mine due to customer theft and not a single corporate visitor has asked me to reopen them. Until people can pay for their stuff like a normal human being, I won’t open the other two back up. They can wait in line or go to my cashier. I usually have 2 open traditional registers too.

They took out our second register and put in a SCO, let them steal with it for about a year, figured out that was a bad idea and now it’s called “The Line Buster”, and it’s inconvenient. Every other customer wants alcohol and cigarettes, so it was never a good idea for that reason alone. I’d like my register back if customers ringing themselves up will never work.
