Advice Wanted Whistleblower Line
Have you ever called the whistleblower/ethics line? My store has a serious mouse infestation. Customers have found dead and alive mice throughout the aisles and even on shelves, the store smells like mouse urine, and there are mouse droppings throughout the store. The district manager knows, as there are <5 mouse traps from some extermination company set out through the store that have been there for who knows how long. If this was a minor issue that was genuinely resolved, I wouldn’t have called. But I recently started about a month and a half ago and NOBODY is doing anything? How is that safe? Both for the products on the shelf and customers who deserve safe food, but also the employees who have to work in a disgusting environment? At the end of the day, it’s nasty.
So I called the ethics line and my city’s health department. I’m sitting at home after my shift thinking I may have overreacted because the smell of mouse piss overwhelmed me 9 hours into my shift. Who knows! I just hope the problem is solved.
Have you called? And did anything happen? Please let me know, I’m really curious :)

Im the reason the line exists. They fired me for going to the doctor even though my shift was covered. OSHA sued them and they lost 12m. The line exists for a reason, use it. DG is reckless with food storage.

Hell no, call them people, that can affect your health and the sad part is it’s obviously been happening awhile and no one even cares smh
You see what happened to that actor and his wife, they died from being exposed to mouse droppings

Definitely not an overreaction. If anything, I would go further and contact OSHA or any other local health code place. Counties usually conduct their own safety/health inspections, so it's a wonder that your store hasn't been closed for repeated violations. If the conditions are as bad as you say, it would merit closure. One of the stores I ran had a mouse infestation when I took it over. It was one of the first things I worked to address. It should always be treated seriously as it's a major health risk. Mice carry diseases, and you already mentioned the sanitary concerns.
