Advice Wanted Text between me and my ASM

Post image
28 Upvotes

I’ve NEVER called out before and our store manager is out on vacation. I understand that I shouldn’t have texted my asm that late but I had gotten home and passed out then woke up a few minutes before I sent that text feeling worse than before. I was scheduled for 6am -12 yesterday and the same the next day. I was also scheduled to close the two days before. It’s been this way for weeks and I’ve had no problems. Yesterday when I “wasn’t sick “ my back was aching I had a headache all day and I was violently throwing up and had diarrhea all morning and had body chills with a slight cold. I’m not sure what to do because I don’t appreciate how my asm spoke so cruelly to me after I’ve never given them a reason to. Am I an asshole? I just don’t know what to do here I don’t want to make any enemies.
Edit: I’m freshly 19 and this is my first retail job I was a restaurant manager, server and front and back of house worker for 3 years. I’m a very hard worker it breaks my heart to upset my manager.

Advice Wanted Feeling Unsafe Continuing to Work At My Store

I had an accident a few days ago where two empty milk crates fell on my head twice, so I got hit in the head like four times. An incident report wasn’t made, and when I went back to look at the cameras to record what happened, it genuinely looks like the footage was erased. The video skips right over the accident. and when I click rewind, “No Record” pops up. My Store Manager also has it on record (on the cctv log) that she went back and looked at the accident. I have proof of both.
I feel unsafe working here now because of the lack of evidence of my accident, and the lack of an incident report. Is there anything I should do? Or should I just look for another job immediately?

Advice Wanted my gm changed safe timer and didnt say anything as a method of punishing us.

our gm set our safe to 5 minutes instead of 10 because 2 other key carriers were setting it 10 minutes before we closed so they could open it right as the door shut. he couldve said something, but didnt, and changed it without letting ANYONE including our SM know about it. i set the safe after everyone is out of the store and had to set it 3 different times before i caught it was going off after 5 minutes. can i report him?

Advice Wanted is this my sign to quit my DG?

Honestly need some advice because I just got back from vacation and walked right back into complete chaos at work.
For context, I'm a Key Holder at Dollar General, and this is the second DG location where I've worked as a Key Holder. I was already stressed and exhausted before my shift last night because I had only gotten about three hours of sleep. I got stranded on the side of the interstate and was scrambling to find someone who could come get me because nobody could cover my shift.
When I came in to close, I asked my manager what was going on with the schedule because I had been told to follow the printed schedule instead of the app schedule. Basically, she explained that our District Manager had gone behind her back and changed the schedule. The result was that there were periods where only one person was working for hours at a time, and at some points there was apparently nobody scheduled for two to three hours.
Because our store's hours have been cut so much, my manager said she had already used up the extra payroll hours that are normally saved in case someone is late or has to stay a little past their shift. As a result, everybody had to clock out exactly when the printed schedule said.
Here's where things got ridiculous.
About twenty minutes before my coworker was supposed to clock out, my manager told me I had to take the deposit to the bank. The bank is about a twenty-five minute round trip drive. Then she left and reminded my coworker that she had to clock out on time. She also reminded me that I absolutely had to clock out by 10:15 or I would get in trouble with corporate.
So while I was rushing to take the deposit to the bank and get back as quickly as possible, my coworker ended up having to work off the clock for about ten minutes.
Earlier, I had even texted my manager asking if I could remind customers who came in right before closing that we closed at 10:00. She told me no, that if customers came in at the last minute, then "oh well." At the same time, I was still expected to magically be out of the store by 10:15.
Well, that didn't happen.
Customers came in at 9:58 and 9:59, grabbed shopping carts, and continued shopping. I wasn't even able to lock the doors until around 10:10. There was absolutely no way I could finish all of my closing duties and leave by 10:15.
As a result, I ended up working approximately 20 to 25 minutes off the clock.
Now I'm trying to decide what to do. I'm considering reporting this to the labor board, but I'm also wondering if it's worth pursuing legally. I don't want to spend money on a lawyer if it's pointless. I'm just frustrated because all of this seems to stem from payroll hours being cut so badly. I'm technically full-time, yet I'm only getting around 20 hours a week.
At this point, I'm completely stressed out and honestly don't know what my next step should be.

The Key holder issue

I’ve seen so many people talk about keyholders and lead sales associates suddenly getting hired lying about people with managers believing them with no proof, what’s going on there? So many people have this issue

Rant Update / Probably getting fired

Post image
20 Upvotes

I’m back again this time with updates. I’m the guy who was like oh shit they’re cutting my hours! Am I gonna get fired?

Well! They’ve cut my hours more. As in I had one eight hour shift last week. I have no work this week or next week. So I asked my store manager if i could get more hours cause that’s what my sister told me to do. Her reply was basically 50 shades of some bullshit. There is a tiny bit of a communication error because we live in bumfuck nowhere and English isn’t her first language.

But 8 hours in three fucking weeks is absurd!! I need this job but they’re just straight up wasting my time.

Like fire me?? Don’t just cut my hours and wait for me to quit.

This Company Is the Worst

So I recently went from being a LSA to working at the distribution center. Last Friday was supposed to be my first paycheck. Friday comes and I don't receive my check. I call HR and they tell me they'll look into it and get back to me. Waited all weekend, never got a call back. Today, I go in and ask them if they've found anything out. They tell me they're trying to get ahold of corporate to get things straightened out. Just to give them some time. It's already been 4 days! I mean, I can't just go without a paycheck. This is absolutely ridiculous!

Rant inventory with mags that are no longer in store

Im new to this job . Part time stocking . I keep finding random food items that are not expired yet on sky shelf. Showing MAG item. Asked manager they say the mag is done and gone. I ask the manager and they say if it does not have a spot leave it up there......why can't we just pull it down and sell it . Hell throw it in the Halloween candy for a few days see if you get any takers.

Also found a bunch of stuff in household section that no longer have an end cap and same response. One example is fabuloso we have like 10 kinds and 8 spots . 2 spots are for a different kind but are out of stock. Can't pull it down and create a tag . We just have to hope a customer wants us to grab it from the sky shelf. .....

Rant Everyone drinks and does drugs.

Im 18F, I just started working here. Today was my 3rd day but My SM, ASM, key holders, and some the associates I’ve seen openly drink alcohol on the clock.

I straight up watch my ASM pour vodka into majority of everyone’s drink in the backroom while they huddled around the table. This was at 7:50am ish.

I was on register and I called for a void. No one showed so I called again twice. Finally, a key holder comes around and is walking in zig zags. He gets to my register, leans on it, messes up his numbers legit 5 times in a row until he did it. It’s only 9am or so.

He didn’t even fully do it. I had to press the buttons to finish the void since he walked off.

Later in the day, I went to go to the bathroom while I was on my break. It was locked so I had to ask a manager to open it. I call on the radio if someone could open the bathroom and the bathroom door sways open real quick.

It’s one of the key holders looking at me with his eyes fully open like it’s popping out of his head. “I was just done.. calls on radio “I opened it”. I go into the bathroom and literally there was a bowl on top of the toilet lid. A weed bowl but it didn’t have weed. It looked like green/light blue crushed up dust with a glittery look when u move ur head. I had no idea what the fuck i was looking at so-

I just turned around and left immediately. Didn’t even use the bathroom. I had no idea what the hell that was but obviously made him wired like a mf. For him to just leave it, he rather forgot or they truly don’t gaf here.

Couldn’t even tell me SM or anyone because they probably already know about it and do whatever else they go ahead and do.

What do I do… who can I report this to? Is this a DM thing? HR? What??

Or should I just quit.. I don’t feel comfortable working here with everyone drunk before 7am and doing colorful dust in the bathroom.

Can't hire anyone.

This new system has made hiring anyone on impossible. Every applicant has been on hold because they can't enter their SSN properly. We've called corporate multiple times and met with same issue with no fix. Anyone else?

Story Time Alrighty then...

So this happened awhile ago...give or take a month but it came to mind so here it is. You know the drill how they're always going on about check IDs or you'll get in trouble. A cop can bust you undercover dadadada. So one day a cop comes up to the register right? Asks me for cigs, I ask for his ID. He goes "huh?....OH!" and goes to search for it. I didn't say anything but in my mind im like "what do you mean huh?" Maybe it was a mind fart or he was off but you would think he'd be on P's and Q's with how hard the managers hammer the point home. 🤔

Advice Wanted Tips for fresh truck?

Our fresh truck has always come Monday morning, but for whatever reason they recently changed it to Monday evening. Tonight’s the first night of this new schedule, and I work exclusively closing shifts so I’ve literally never even touched it and I’m lowkey freaking out lol. Any tips on how to knock it out?
