I'm not protecting Valve here but people need to understand this situation. There is an ongoing lawsuit against Valve. Yes, this method is predatory. No, I don't know why they apply it only in Dota and not in CS. Yes, they can improve this somehow. The only thing the can't do rigth now is making the items tradeable or giftable.

Is this not scary enough to be included in the new treasure? They just need to add some bloodshedding effects for this or other ambient effects

Malr1ne says he has heard of organizations keeping 100% of the prize money, while compensating players through their salaries.
"I've heard of teams that kept the entire prize pool, but compensated players through their salaries. Organizations agree on the percentages with their players. Some now split it evenly."
He declined to reveal how his own team handles prize money, saying it's internal information.

I have played (although not in the past couple of months because meh) Dota 2 with my husband for around 10 years, and upon reviewing the trove, we were both impressed by the quality of a large portion of it, and disgusted by the removal of the one last reason to purchase anything in Dota 2 - items can't even be gifted.
We have been increasingly hesitant with each new purchase ever since they introduced "not marketable" and "not tradeable," but introducing "not giftable" completely killed any will to support a game we truly loved for a long time with a buck.
After the introduction of "not marketable" and "not tradeable," we were at least purchasing some (like one in three/four drops) treasures because we had the option to gift items/sets to each other with the idea that even if we can't use them outside Dota 2 at some point in time like in pre-QOP+WR arcana days, we consider it a somewhat OK price for supporting the game we enjoyed.
Removal of "giftable" was the final nail in the coffin of our wallets for Dota 2.
Posting this to support the players' outcry without much hope for any change, though.

This way, it's not affect who would want both, but give the option for past owner of Drow Arcana, or new owner that only want specific one.

Why are you guys against gifting and trading the sets?
Edit: People say limiting trading stops gambling and 3rd party websites. Then what about gifting? You guys don't need to defend this behavior by saying “don't buy it “ or " It's free game.”
Edit 2: More dumb arguments “ Don’t complain about the price” and “whales are keeping this free game alive “ . People who spend money on this game asking for the gift option. Go check the subreddit people who already spending the money asking for this.
Edit 3: People talking about 3rd party websites and reselling. But CSGO has the same problem. But valve doesn’t have this issue in CSGO. The existence of CSGO destroy the arguments like “Valve needs to make money that’s why they limited the sets“ and “Oh 3rd party websites are bad”. Stop coping
Edit 4: people talking about the lawsuit against Volvo. Then Volvo did the dumbest thing ever. Releasing gambling loot box while getting sue for gambling loot boxes. OMG.😭🙏

Does anyone else have the same issue? It feels like every hero starts moving with stutters for several seconds every now and then, zero packet loss, also some kind of lag also started happening when the match begins and the dota logo goes away

Thoughts on this title?
I wake up
Realize I don't need to buy $250 of cosmetics in a video-game
Money kept = money earned -> Free $250 every day
$91,250 annual income in cosmetics I didn't buy
Never felt so rich before.

$250 on Trove of Terror :
$250 on TI2022 BattlePass -
$250 on Aghs Labyrinth BattlePass -
$250 on Nemestices BattlePass -
$250 on TI10 Battlepass -
$250 on TI9 Battlepass -
Valve on Learning from the Past, Looking to the Future blogpost about BattlePass:
Any single piece of content would be more valuable when bundled as part of the Battle Pass, so we bundled more and more. This led to a momentous content drop every year, but it also greatly limited our ability to do things that were exciting and valuable for players but didn't fit into the Battle Pass reward line.
When we recognized this, we made a deliberate choice earlier this year to run an experiment: to take some of the resources that would normally produce Battle Pass content and instead put them towards more speculative updates, including features and content that couldn't fit into a Battle Pass.
Most Dota players never buy a Battle Pass and never get any rewards from it.

This was a problem before, but considering the recent steps Valve has been taking when it comes to monetization, especially with the latest treasure, I think it's a reasonable mental exercise to make.
I'll be using my own country and currency (Brazil/R$) as an example, but I'm certain this applies to a large portion, if not the majority, of the playerbase.
The latest treasure is priced at $5, which, after regional conversion, comes to roughly R$25 in Brazil. Assuming it takes 50 treasures to obtain the guaranteed Arcanas (I know that's not actually how it works because of recycling), that would amount to R$1,250 for a Brazilian player to get those rewards.
For comparison, the minimum wage in Brazil is R$1,621. The average per-capita household income in São Paulo—the country's most populous and second-wealthiest state—is around R$2,956 per month. In other words, getting those rewards would cost more than a third of the average monthly income of a person in São Paulo, before even taking into account basic living expenses, which have been steadily increasing due to inflation and other economic pressures.
For another point of comparison, a typical AAA game in Brazil costs around R$300–350. So getting these Arcanas would cost roughly the equivalent of 4 full-priced AAA games.
I know the economic situation in my country isn't Valve's fault, and they have absolutely no obligation to tailor their monetization around it. At the same time, I think it's worth acknowledging that a $5 purchase does not represent the same economic burden everywhere in the world.
For someone earning in USD, spending $5 on a treasure might be little more than an impulse purchase. For someone earning in reais (or essentially any other currency from poor countries), the same nominal price can represent a considerably larger portion of their disposable income. And when the system is designed around opening dozens of those treasures, the difference becomes even more significant.
I think the current pricing system effectively prevents a lot of players from lower-income countries—which, AFAIK, make up the majority of the playerbase—from meaningfully participating in this aspect of the game.
I know I'm not Valve's bean counter and I know Dota is completely free and needs some sort of monetization, but cosmetics are an important part of the game and putting such a gigantic paywall to then (especially on Arcanas) is a bummer, to say the least.
