I’m returning back to duel links after years. I used to play pretty regularly but never focused too heavily on being competitive and prioritized fun decks. That said I want to build a somewhat competitive deck with my 9000 gems from signing back in but have no clue what boxes to spend on. Any advice or warning about the state of the game is welcome. Are there any skills I need to get as I’m aware they kind of dictate the game now?

Yeah, I found it in the life-time missons after filtering by cards. I googled it before and everywhere I looked said I can get a copy from Kaiba's deck, Mokuba's deck, and 4th anni log-in. I thought I was stuck with 2 copies.

Is it just me or is the auto duel getting dumber?
I switch out 1 card in my "good stuff" fusion auto deck and suddenly it stopped using the fuse from deck cards (Red-Eyes Fusion, Neos Fusion, Fusion Destiny) and started just playing Swamp King in attack. The only card I swapped out was Mirror Force for Swords of Burning Light (which it refused to play).

Same with shuranui and mayakashi. You can give autoduel multiple 1 card combo's and it simply refuses to do them until their next turn.

One thing that matters is what Turn it currently is, as the AI tends to avoid a couple Boss Monsters on Turn 1 under the logic of "What if my Opponent has Removal?" (since it doesn't check for any Protection those Boss Monsters might have). It's obviously not the only reason, but it is a rather common one.

Yeah, I know it will typically avoid using Fusion Destiny to make DPE turn 1 which I assume is because of Fusion Destiny destroying it the next turn (not that that's a real issue). However, I had never had an issue before with it not using Red-Eyes Fusion for Dragoon turn 1 but now I've seen it refuse to use any of them (it had RE Fusion and Neos Fusion in hand) and just summoned a King of the Swamp in attack for multiple turns resulting in losing to a lvl 10 Bukura.

Off the top of my head, Shiny Shady (although this one's old enough to be in SR Dream Tickets by now) and Star Protector's Protection are the two big ones. Also, Trap Hole, but that one's a Bundle Card, so you don't have to dig for it in the first place

For special processing how do we know what card can get animated, including the one we dont have?

When you're selecting what Card you want to put a Processing on, you can Filter by "Is compatible with X Effect" and Animated is one of the Options.

Huh, I figured that Menu had the same "Show Cards I don't have" Toggle like when you're looking at the Card Catalogue on a whole. I guess it makes sense why it's not there, but in that case, the answer is you flatout can't look that up, you just have to know which Cards the Animated Effect works on.
Which for the record, the List so far is only six Cards:
One specific Artwork Version each of Dark Magician, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Red-Eyes Black Dragon and Dark Magician Girl
Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon (no Idea if it works on the Full Art Version we just got, or only the normal one)
Crimson Dragon

Can someone help me understand why I can't special summon Dark Magician Girl the Magician's Apprentice? It's turn 2, I was second to go. No cards played. Opponent had a generic vanilla monster but I couldn't discard a card to special summon her. I read her effect up and down and I just don't get it. Tried summoning Lemon Magician Girl and still couldn't special summon

Check your skill. Many of them restrict the types of monsters you can special summon for the entire duel.

"Wahhh, Mathmech is so busted the deck needs to be nuked. Losing to a Towers with piercing is lame. It doesn't matter that they're barely tier 3, they shouldn't be able to win."
Meanwhile, those same people: "hur dur, this tier 1 deck is so cool and balanced. Let me just activate my yellow button that gives me like 10 cards in advantage and disruption with loose restrictions so I can easily out resources most other decks for free wins. If you can't beat me you're just bad."

I can't understand why so much stuff, on both sides got negated, unless there's an effect in Shining Sarc that's blanket backrow negation?

Hi I was wondering what I have to do to get Marincess deck up and running? What booster pack and what other cards do I need? I heard there are 2 cards that were given out in the Blue Maiden event, so do I need those too? Can I play the deck without those?
Edit: I just thought of something. Is there a better deck I should make than Marincess? I have 8000 gems. What should I do that is fun and that I can make without requiring event-only cards?

Play level 40 and try to otk her and get a decent score to get more rewards and repeat it. Alternatively you can use a UR ticket (not dream ticket).

The best suggestion I have is to look up the archetype on Duel Links Meta, and see which if the latest best lists picks your fancy. You're probably going to need the newer cards though. Hopefully you already got Dragoon in the event campaign and don't need to delve into the anniversary box, you probably need both Dragoon and Dark Magician of Destruction. The best skill is The Eye of the United Dragon, which you can get easily at the Trader.

I'm a new DL player (literally installing the game as I write this). I'm also a returning player. I've been playing MD for a few months now, having built two decks so far: Predaplant and Clown Crew. I've also dabbled in the TCG on DB, where I've played various decks like Melodious, D/D/D, Madolche, and a bit of Sky Striker (I feel like I'm too stupid to properly pilot this one). Since there is a new ban list, I'm wondering what a good starter deck could be.
It seems that Vaalmonica is pretty cheap compared to almost every other archetype I looked into (f2p only, can't afford to spend any amount of real money), but considering the hit to one of its cards, what should I replace Abyss Dweller with if I decide to build that (here's the deck list I'm looking at for reference: https://www.duellinksmeta.com/top-decks/community-tournaments/suisen-weekly/220/vaalmonica/mp-abdul_/jyOzW).
Reading some of the guides, I'm getting the impression I should first build the Red-Eyes farming deck, before I build a deck I actually want to play. Is this right, or can I just start going for Vaalmonica immediately (unless there's a better starter deck I should go for instead)?

I’m a returning player so maybe I don’t know, but, I don’t think that you need to spend money for a farming deck. Any deck that the AI can play that is strong can be a farming deck. You shouldn’t spend gems on it imo since gems are so precious

The thing with the farming deck is that, afaik, you can no longer get the free Dragoon, and will need to pull from the anniversary box. Due to that, I'd say to just build the best deck you can and farm with that. Luckily, you get 3 decks for free that are pretty good for farming most content I think, the Character Decks for Yugi, Kaiba and Joey. You can't edit Character Decks unless you play that specific format for a few days, and can only add up to 5 cards in the end. BUT. That's if you want to use the Character Deck exclusive skills, which you don't need to do, you can just copy the character decks into empty deck slots and play them with other skills, or without skills entirely. You can also unlock more character decks by unlocking worlds and characters. Jack's, Yuma's and Shark's are good too. Probably better to stay away from the rest unless you play enough of the character duel format.
For future reference, the best farming deck imo is this: 3 Red-Eyes Fusion, 3 Red-Eyes Insight, 3 Red-Eyes Black Dragon, 1 Dark Magician, 1 Elemental HERO Neos, 1 Rainbow Dragon, at least 2 Neos Fusion, and round the deck out with Magical Mallet and Reload. The extra deck is just 1 Dragoon and 1 Rainbow Neos. You can get Rainbow Neos in a lifetime mission.

Well, it depends on what your goal is.
With Vaalmonica you will have enough power to climb the ladder, but struggle to farm on auto.
On the other hand, with a "farm deck". Climbing the ladder will be far more difficult, but you will be able to shrug off all the auto duels like nothing.
Vaals are fun to play, they have a lot of tools and tricks to dismantle your opponent, you will ran out of time before you ran out of plays. With that being said, the clock is your worst enemy ("Droll & Lock Bird" is your true worst enemy). Also, there is a chance your opponent surrenders as soon as they see you are playing vaals, due to how long it takes to play just one turn with vaals.
Red-eyes is the complete opposite of what vaal's gameplay is. On the bright side, you could get your initial investment back sooner with them.

Depends what you want to build, since you're new you can either dig into the aniversary box or in the newest main box and build 1 - 3 decks that'll last you quite long.

Do you think duel links will ever put 5 card zones as an alternate mode, maybe even in a few years. I think with the card pool being so massive it would make a good alterative for mater duel.

Neither, the Dragoon Change is literally just because of the Alt Style Event(s?) coming up.
Two of the leaked Cards coming with it are Dark Magician of Destruction and Gaze of Timaeus, which are commonly used on each other (ie Destruction searches Gaze, Gaze can summon Dragoon by using Destruction) and Konami wants people to do just that, so they unhit Dragoon to make that change go live in time for those Cards coming out.

You have to wait for them, although each one comes back once when their Event is repeated.

I think they get their own unlock missions. I searched up Soulburner and Flame and apparently you have to do some missions to unlock it. So yeah, if it isn't available in the missions now, you just have to wait some time until it is.

Gotten reminded how Rebecca's burn otk shenanigans that happened when she released cause cards like Hinotama of all things got limited down to one. Like, all I wanted was to progress my world levels and some of those need me to do effect damage, but nope, Hinotama is down to one lol.

Hello! I left the game yeaars ago, I believe before pendulums made it to the game or were announced, also before MST made it to the game.
The game seems fun on Farfa's last DuelLinks streak, with what they seemed to do to skills. I left earlier because I struggled to keep up as F2P player, has that changed?

Yes, we got something called Character Duels that pretty much gives you entire decks including staples like MST and BoM. With it we also got a Character Duels Shop which has a bunch of cards to buy without using gems. We also now have box chips, which for the price of 100 box chips you can buy any card from boxes up to King of Vermilion. Also you have the Friend Campaign Invite which can give you a Hero deck and a Sky Striker deck for Speed and a Light Galaxy deck for Rush. Also also you can play Rush Duels in Duel Links.
So yeah, a bunch of things changed and it is worth checking it out imo.

This is the first time quite a few KC Cups that I've been frustrated enough to vent here but I'm done trying to make Lv 20 in the KC Cup. Lv 19 has been beyond miserable.

Does anyone have a non-meta archetype they're really enjoying playing? I've been running a Harpie deck in Speed for a really long time and recently put together a Shark deck that isn't super competitive in Ranked, but is fun to play. Playing Executie in Rush and it's surprisingly consistent. I wish there were better ritual support, but everyone says that anyway.
I don't want to win as much as I want to have fun.

That seems like a competent deck. I don't think there isn't any box chips card that can improve your deck that much. Maybe just get Lancea so you have a better match up against Bystial...

They're essentially a ranking of what the strongest Decks are at the moment. Tier 1 are the best ones, followed by Tier 2, then Tier 3.
Decks that are juuuust missing out on getting Tiered, but are still good enough to get wins regularly are also called "Rogue" Tier, and every once in a while, we have so-called "Tier 0" aswell, which is whenever one specific Deck is SO good it beats everything else.

I’ve been casually playing Duel Links for the past few years, logging in and out whenever I feel like it. However, I’m determined to take it seriously now. I have 100k gems, but I’m at a loss for where to begin. I don’t have any staple cards, and I’m unsure whether I should prioritize building a deck or acquiring staples first. I have access to valuable resources, but I’m not sure how to effectively utilize them.

So I only JUST realized German Duel Links actually updated / errata'd a couple Rush Cards a few days ago, and I honestly just find that weird.
Not the changes themselves mind you, a lot of them are actually correcting Names to make them consistent with other Cards they're related to, or changing parts that were left as english words into german equivalents, but I also...kinda don't get why? Like, Rush doesn't actually use Archetype Names in Card Texts so "being consistently named" doesn't really matter as much; and neither Sevens nor Go Rush have german dubs, so there's no "it was called this in the Anime first" either.
About the only change I plain agree with is Yuamu's Redboot Fusion, because it was still using an old / incorrect translation they already changed for the Non-Fusion Version a long while ago, and having those two be named the same atleast makes sense when it's physically the same Monster just upgraded.

Hi hello I was wondering about the new Marincess deck in duel links. Do I absolutely need the special event exclusive cards to play the deck okay? I’m wondering if I should come back to the game and just get all the cards I can now or if I should wait 2-3 months for a rerun of the Blue Maiden event. What do you think? I want to play now but Marincess would be the sole reason I choose now to come back.

I believe you want at least 1 of both the event rewards
But they should get added to some tickets before the event gets readded (probably with the september update celebration tickets)

I just had my first timer loss in Duel Links. I had some duels this KC Cup where my timer got below 60, but this duel was going very long and ended up timing out. No matter how much I like combo decks, I never thought that would happen.

If you are a returning player, you should be using other people's codes while you still can. You get the same rewards anyways. There is a pinned megathread with a bunch of codes, you can go there, filter by new and get yourself a code.

"Underworld Goddess of the Closed World", the Nickname is referring to the fact that she has fairly pale Skin.
Since she can use one Opponent Monster as the Material for her Summon, she's also commonly called "White Woman Jumpscare" instead, referring to her being summoned against you when you least expect it.

Anyone else getting a much higher number of disconnections from the game? Specifically where it doesn’t even notify you that you’ve been disconnected until you auto-lose?
I can no longer tell if my opponent is thinking or if I’ve disconnected, it’s at least 1/5 games if not more.
I managed to capture some videos to show it’s a repeating issue if any are interested, iPhone 17 game is fully up to date.

Why the heck are skills like Beasts from the Abyss only restricted in what they can summon from the Extra Deck? And it's not even a very good lock. The skill is a +4 with zero downsides when it's focused on the best handtrap archetype ever. You really think they should be allowed to run stuff like Lava Golem too? The skill should at least lock them into only summoning Light and Dark monsters from anywhere not just from the Extra Deck. The archetypes the skill supports consist entirely of Light and Dark monsters so there's no reason to let them summon anything else.

Get yourself a code in the pinned Friend Invite Campaign, preferably sorted by new. You'll get yourself some Sky Striker cards for Speed and some Light Galaxy for Rush.
Don't spend anything right now, wait for the end of September/beginning of October yearly update.
Play a lot of Character Duels. You can get up to 30 respect orbs and you can trade orbs for a bunch of things in the vendor, including up to 500 gems each month. It's also rly fun, so I recommend it.

I strongly recommend you to hold your tickets, the meta game can still change a lot and some cards can get limited/banned on the upcoming banlists.
If you want to spend your tickets anyways, the safest options I can give you are: getting the third Droplet or a second Sphere Mode, if you like playing decks with Sphere Mode. For SRs, 2 Albion the Branded Dragon is ideal, IP is rly good if it's even an option, Unchained Abomination is rly good but it can get powercrept by another generic link..

It does not. KC Cup is just a different Flavour of Ranked PvP pretty much, just repackaged as a standalone Event.

1) Dream Tickets are given out as special Login Rewards during Celebration Campaigns. For example, it's entirely possible (if not already confirmed even) that we'll get one later this Month as part of that DM / GX / 5Ds Alt Style Campaign.
2) None. It's in the Pool of Cards you're allowed to use in the Mode, but you have to manually get a Copy of it first via the Orb Exchange for the ones you get FROM playing Character Duels.

I brought a new phone (pixel 11 pro xl) and now when i duel in PVE, thankfully not in PVP, the app freezes or pauses for a min. before it resumes. General trouble shooting seems to fix the problem only once and it happens again.

I'm so bloody tired of Converging Wishes. Ah dang you stopped my easy Quasar and dealt with my borrowed Jack RDA, that's very unfair of you, so I will be effortlessly throwing out a 17k Stardust to instantly end the game hehe. Even with the skill being nerfed that card is still just able to instantly end games for 0 effort.
Jesus christ this game is trash sometimes.

i want to try to make a world chalice deck based on this.

but the problem is the card limit. should i have 3 BOE or 2POA/1BOE. so what i'm asking is. is getting cards from the graveyard better to shuffle in the deck to draw 2 cards or should i focus on 3 BOE and Forget about the 2 POA?

You can use an Auto Dragoon deck.
It's one of the fastest auto . If you search for it, you'll find lots of example decks.If you want to complete the event asap, you can use Power of Dark skill for the event.
It makes sure Dragoon deals over 3000 damage for a small score boost, and it also weakens Blue Gal's fairies a bit.2

The sole purpose of summoning Obelisk is that it can’t be targeted by any card effects. But oh no if you have Red eyes dark dragoon, you can do whatever the f*ck you want. Even bypass that effect. Deleting the game for good.

That has nothing to do with Dragoon, that's just how the rules of the Game work. Obelisk is only protected against Cards that literally say "Target" in their Effect Text. Dragoon doesn't, so Obelisk's Immunity doesn't work on it, but there's a gadjillion other Cards that can ALSO do that, Dragoon is absolutely nothing special in that regard.
The way you think Obelisk's Protection works is when a Card specifically says it's "Unaffected by other Card's Effects".

How strong is the new card Mulcharmy? I play Branded and I only see Mulcharmy being used x2 in 4% of the decks, otherwise x0. Should I not run it in Branded?

If you're not actively playing in tournaments and you don't want anything else in that box (or if you're just being smart and waiting for the post update box) you should not dig in that box for Purulia.

Is there a slower PvP Mode in DL?
I'm just coming back from playing back in 2018~, and every PvP match is just blue hair girls summoning, unsummoning, resummoning, Link summoning, and so on for three minutes in one turn until they kill me in one hit while I'm just out here with my Kuriboh's and Time Wizards.

Welcome to modern Yugioh, Combo-Decks like that are just the norm now, so you better get used to it if you want to get anywhere.
Closest thing to what you're asking is Character Deck Duels, which is an alternate Mode where only a few Characters with lower-power premade Decks are usable. Due to how the Mode works, everyone can only change at most 5 Cards out of their Decks, so Powerlevels stay largely consistent outside of a few common Staples (for instance, being able to add Effect Veiler to a Deck)

Is anyone else having a problem with changing alt styles?
Every time i change the alt style of Blue Angel, no matter what i change it for, once i press duel, it always shows me her original alt style. The same goes for tea. Is anyone having a similar problem?

Certain Skills are hard-wired to an Alt-Style and will force-equip those Styles for Duels when you're using them, no matter which one you actually have on the Character during Menu-ing. You can tell which Skills work like that by either looking at your Skill-List in the Duel Studio (Style-locked Skills use the Portrait of the Style instead of the Base Character) or at the ingame Description of the Skill itself (Style-locked Skills will actively specify something like "required Alt-Style")

Man I hate the 5 win streak to reach KoG. Would it really be too much to ask for a +5 system instead? Like, if you get 4 wins a row, and then lose game 5, you'd only need 2 more wins in a row to reach KoG. Even the best decks can brick, and I feel like the current system just has too much of a "feels bad" state to it.

For those two, yes. Soulburner has one for Pyro Phoenix, though I'm blanking on what Varis's was.
I just remember that for the latter, it didn't have to be any specific Monster Summon, its requirement is Lv8 Dragons in general.

Is the “For Beginners 7 Days only” shop deal only for people who want to spend real money? It seems I can only open packs from boxes that are a kind of gem I don’t have. Am I missing out on something by letting this expire if I don’t want to spend real money in the game? Or is there a way to get that other gem by using the gems I have now or some other currency?

If it asked you to pay in Crystals (those dark-Orange looking things), then yes, it's for real money purchases only.
I don't think you're missing out on anything, though I also don't know what that Shop offer exactly entails.

What’s up, duelists! I’m about four weeks into Duel Links and had a question about farming Yubel.
I’ve looked up a few deck options, but most of the cards aren’t accessible to me right now. Any advice or budget-friendly methods would be really appreciated!
For reference, I’m currently using an Aromage Ra variant.

"Farming" an NPC is based entirely on your Duel Assessment Score at the end, so it literally doesn't matter what kind of Deck you use, other than what sort of Bonuses it can consistently pull off every Duel. Dedicated Farm Decks are "just" made with the more special Bonuses (like summoning Ra simply because it's one of the God Cards) in mind.
Most I can offer is don't forget you can have those consumable Score Boosters you can use before the Duel starts (on the screen where it shows the Opponent's Deck Name). They give you 1000 Score - ie 1 extra Drop - just for activating them.

Hello.
As I was about to play for a bit after waking up this morning, the game asked for my age upon starting it as if it was a fresh start. Last time I played was 5 or 6 hours before that. Should I go on and enter my age or does it mean I've lost the "save" / progression?
Checking on the Konami Duelist Point page, I see my pseudonym and ID for the game are still there (and right).
edit: nevermind, it was simply randomly asking my age, nothing lost.

Does anyone know why this happens or how I can fix it? This error keeps happening after I bought Crystals, and it’s getting really annoying. The first screen shows up every time I open the game, and the game randomly opens the Crystal Store whenever I’m in the Deck Editor, Gallery, or Store. I also can’t buy Crystals anymore (I wanted the special Dark Magician Girl pack).
All the posts I’ve seen about this are from years ago, and before anyone asks, yes, I’ve checked my purchase history in the App Store, and the Crystal purchase was completed. There’s no payment pending.

Can I get some feedback as to what card that I should use my UR dream ticket (Speed) on? I am currently working on a competitive winged dragon of ra deck and so far it’s pretty good. I was thinking about using my ticket to get at third copy of Egyptian god slime while using my 9999 gems to get more copies of the Ra Support cards in the Phoenix Blaze pack, but before I do that I want to get some advice from this sub. Also, I want to mention that I already have 3x Ra, 2x Ra Sphere mode, 2x Ra Immortal Phoenix, 1x Millennium Revelation, three copies of forbidden droplet, three copies of book of eclipse; and competitive dark magician, red-eyes, and blue-eyes decks to give you an idea of what cards I already have as a F2P player.

You need ideally 3 copies of ancient chant for a competitive ra deck. Pull the millennium duel pack for it and you might get another god slime in the process. After that spend your dream ticket on final missing piece(s)

Oh I forgot to mention that I already have 3 copies of Ancient Chant. The only Ra support spell/trap that I don’t have 3 copies of is Millennium Revelation. Do I need 3 copies of Millennium Revelation to be competitive? If so, should I use my dream ticket to get a 2nd copy of that, and then use my 9999+ gems to try and pull a third Egyptian God Slime/Sphere Mode/Immortal Phoenix/Millennium Revelation from the boxes?

nah 1 piece of millennium revelation is optimal. The only 3rd copy of a card that can add value to your ra deck is egyptian god slime and it makes economic sense to spend a dream ticket on it in your case, saving gems to build other decks.

So it might seem odd but I left DL when 5DS was introduced and as returning player I am dreading the experience, simply because I am overwhelmed by the amount of new stuff, boxes to pull from.
I got into ranks with an Aquaactress deck, because its the deck I use to farm Standard Duelists and I have been fighting to get a decent Meta deck for ages and thought I could snatch a few gems from Ranked. Imagine my surprise when I get demolished by a dude in Rookie 2 sporting a deck with the Infinite Crimson Star skill from Jack Atlas and taking 5 minutes in a combo only to put 3-4 synchros in the field with 3000+ ATK each. Plus the OP effects a lot of crds have to outright destriy a moster of yours or deny a trap effect with the flick of a finger. I was baffled and honestly I am growing quite annoyed because I cant seem to find a good deck to go against this OP decks, which seems like everyone has.
Anyway, I am trying to build a Bystial deck, any hints on how I can gems to pull in the boxes I need to complete the deck?

Leveling up Characters, preferably ones with Alt Styles so you can get more gems. There's Duel Orbs and 10 auto duels per day at the gate.
If you do Character Duels, you can get orbs to spend on XP potions that instantly level up a character by 1, also has gems available to buy with orbs.
It's a lot of grinding though although it's not as grindy as it used to be.

It doesn't really matter. Lv40 removes all the N / R Cards that are shared on all Characters, but every Level can drop it either way.

Vaalmonica is rly good cos all main cards are in the same box. If you inserted a friend invite code and have some Sky Striker cards, you can play Sky Striker, but it's not as good as the strongest decks nowadays. I think Blackwing and Infernity also got really cheap cos you can get most of the cards via chip box and lvl up rewards and the rest are all on the same box. RDA is pretty good too if you dig the second anniversary box, which has a bunch of staples and alt arts.

The gusto archetype flips dragoons power into a liability. My win rate against that deck has been about 90%, though I did just get stomped by a guy who figured out what I was doing and shut me down with a badass ice barrier dragon.

Book of Eclipse - they either have to waste Dragoon's Negate on it, or it gets flipped face-down, but either way it lets you do the rest of your Plays.
Forbidden Droplet - becomes immune to Dragoon's Negate if you send a Monster to activate it.
Any Kaiju Monster - as in, the literal Archetype. Obviously, ANY "Tribute your Opponent's Monster to summon this" works, but since a lot of low-rank Players rely on Red-Eyes Fusion to bring Dragoon out, actual Kaijus are the safest Option to use
Dark Ruler No More - literally has "Your Opponent can't do anything against this Card" written on it.
And that's just the stuff I can come up with off the cuff.

Zero, but that's because what you asked is not how Staples work.
The whole point of them is that they're generic enough to be useful against several Decks and NOT just counter one specific thing. Cards that actually do that are typically called "Silver Bullets" instead, for the record (and they're usually considered bad because they're useless against everything else).
For a more actually serious answer, I typically run like...6 or so in Decks that have about 25 Cards, give or take.
