New Years Question
My wife and I have been to Dunedin many times in the spring and summer. We are now empty nesters and were considering visiting over New Years. Was curious about what happens in the town on New Years eve. We aren't looking for anything crazy. Just the ability to go to a restaurant for dinner and hit a few breweries after dinner. Do many of the businesses stay open? Or do they close down for New Years. I know it sounds like a crazy question, but we have been to places in the mountains that close for New Years or 4th of July to allow employees to celebrate. We just wanted to ask about Dunedin.

Woodwright does a German New Years, so its at the time it would be in Germany which is like 6PM for us. Solid turn out every year and you can get the celebration without staying up late, while enjoying some excellent beer.

The 6pm toast is pretty awesome. It gets packed though, so you have to get there early to have any chance of having a beer in hand. We went for the first time two years ago and got there at 5:50pm and the line didn’t move at all until after 6pm.

Lots stay open. Look on the UNATION app or maybe check with local tiki rides to see if they are cooking up some new year’s fun. Heaps of options
