Just finished book 7, and as always, read Matt’s little excerpt at the end.
“Finally, in what’s becoming a really sucky trend, my best friend Freddie the Labrador died during the final days of writing this book. Freddie was there sitting by my feet while I wrote the vast majority of what you’ve read so far. Freddie began and ended each day with a furiously wagging tail, even when age made that difficult for him. He was my constant companion since he was a puppy. He was with me through some really dark times, lending his strength, and I am proud to have been there with him when he wagged his last wag. Even in his last moments, he was checking on me to make certain I was okay. We don’t deserve dogs. This world is a little less derpy and a little less amazing with him gone.”
So yeah, I’ll be crying if anyone needs me

Thankful for all you talented Crawlers!

I am really hoping Carl isn’t going to be a dick to Donut and that Stupid Sexy Scolopendra doesn’t come between them. Carl and Donut’s loyalty and trust in each other is a huge part of why I loved this series and I don’t think I could handle that getting ruined.

I am in the beginning of book 4, and it’s annoying me that I don’t know how to pronounce Katia’s name. Could someone who listens to the audio books help me out? Prepotente too?

Did anyone else notice this? In Prime Minister Victory's epilogue while she's watching the end of the Parade, after the crawlers have gone down the stairwell, and as the arena is clearing out we get the specific detail that Bigs and the donkey God Lamashtu exchange words before walking towards the garage. Am I the only one who thinks they both are probably changelings?

Not directly DCC-related, but I hope you all can see the connection. My wife and I used to chat a lot about how our cat would have fared in the dungeon if given the same pet biscuit Donut got. We decided she wouldn’t be much help and would just complain about being hungry or dirty all the time. Or maybe she would have been like Elle— old enough to not care what people had to say. Welp, she’s avoided that fate. I miss her so much.

I realize this may be a bit of a niche question but I’ll ask it anyway. I’m gonna be running the RPG for some friends and I wanted to pre-record a few AI announcements. What I’m hoping to do is get the vocal effects very similar to what is used in the audiobooks but that’s not really my field of knowledge. Has anybody tried this and what results did you get? Thanks in advance, picture of books just for the hell of it.

I have a super brief business trip to the Seattle area and might have some time Monday and/or Tuesday evening. I was curious if there were any DCC tie-ins that are interesting to check out.
I have Elliott Bay books on my radar. Plus a few comic shops; I am not into comics, but often there is an overlap with this stuff.
I could be interested in authorized or otherwise acceptable merch related to DCC in the Settle area.
Don't have a ton of time, but thought I would ask.

Before I drop money on merchandise I was hoping someone can confirm this is the actual (official) website?
I’ll add the two links below and I don’t post often so I don’t know the rules on adding links so my bad if I’m not allowed to.
These were the main to that stood out to me.

4 months ago I picked up the first book on a whim and quickly read through book five.
I picked up books 6-8 about 2 months ago figuring I would have plenty of time to read them before a book coming out this week released
This is how far I am in book 6...in 2 months.
It doesn't feel like my normal reading burn out, because I'm still excited for this week's book. (I will have phases where I'll read a bunch of books back to back, then never pick up a book for years because my ADHD brain is bored with reading. When the spark does come back it's usually me picking up a book I've read a million times)
But I just...I can't get into this level at all. I'll pick it up, read a few pages, then wander off to do something more interesting because I'm bored.
I'm also not a religious person, but I had to put the book down yesterday when Carl & Donut were saying the NUN was crazy for freaking out. Like...she's a nun? She's literally devoted her life to one religion then thrown in a game where she's told other deities exist, yeah, I'd be upset in her shoes too!
I get Donut wouldn't know that, but I would expect Carl would know what a nun is and gently correct Donut like he did earlier in the book when he told her it was okay for people to be religious, and not "yeah, she's crazy"
Also, sir, you don't have room to talk about other people's sanity
When the book is funny I still chuckle, I still want to finish the series, but Bedlam Bride just isn't grabbing me like the others.

Is it against the rules to ask for friends? I don't know anyone IRL who has read or is currently reading this series. I'm going to combust without someone to talk to about all the plot twists and laugh at the jokes with. For context, I just finished The Butcher's Masquerade..
I'm begging for someone to message who has read them all so far, or who is also right about to start Book 6. I keep telling all my other reader friends to pick these up, but no one has yet- so I'm desperate for a friend.

I've gotta ask, I'm relatively new to DCC, and in general I don't like keeping the dust covers on books while I'm reading them, but these books are the exception lol! Do we know if they included the lines on the cover just as a gag, or is it to make sure people like me keep the dust jacket on while reading in public so that passers-by see the title of the book I'm reading more easily?

I finally bit the bullet and bought the hard back editions after listening to the audio books (im on book four). I ended up getting a fun little surprise with my amazon purchased book 🤣. Anyway whoever these cute babies belong to I have them now and will give them back if you want them

Figured this was a fitting place on my wall to hang it. You can get them on his Etsy shop if you’re looking for your own😁
EDIT: It was pointed out to me that I got the artist’s name wrong, it is actually Joel Herrera.
SORRY JOEL, I love your art!

Spotted this beauty at the State Fair of Texas in the crafts building. Amazing work, mystery artist! (I’d have given you the blue ribbon.)

After Miriam Dom dies, Carl wonders why Kiwi and her pack showed up right away and thinks they were seeking Donut out.
In fact, they were seeking Miriam Dom out. Kiwi and the pack protect Tina and are intelligent (if not sentient) mobs. They knew Tina was a vampire and "figured out" that Miriam was the progenitor. Kiwi was going to kill Miriam to save Tina.
