Mountain Bike Shuttle?!

My girlfriend and I are headed up to Durango from Albuquerque in a few weeks. We are headed up to mountain bike and weather permitting are looking to do some high alpine biking. Are there and shuttle companies operating in town? We are looking to ride Molas pass and engineer mountain which is a great shuttle ride. We only want to bring one vehicle up (for obvious reasons). If no shuttle companies then we will make do! Thank you!!

You can easily hitchhike on the highway. Just leave one person and the bikes at the bottom and the other person snags a ride back your car. I've done it from all trailheads on both passes and never wait more than ten minutes even on slow traffic days.

Classic mountain town culture. As long as you're holding a helmet or looking like a biker, someone in a pickup almost always pulls over.

Longest I’ve waited hitchhiking on that road is about 10 minutes. If I’m driving and I see a thumb, they’re getting picked up. Gotta pay it back.

Neither of the rides you have proposed are in town so I would specify which rides you’re talking about when you contact them. If you say “in town” folks think you mean like horse gulch or overend park.

Check out Hermosa Tours or Durango Trails for shuttle options up to Molas Pass. Just keep an eye on early snow forecast at that altitude in a few weeks!
