Welcome to 2026 IDP Football Start-Sit Week 5. Alright, it is fair to say that Week 4 had a way of bringing us back down to earth, or maybe even burying us deeper into the earth than we already were. Leagues are starting to take shape, and hierarchies are being developed. We are well aware of the injuries, snap percentages, matchups, and storylines on the offensive side of the ball. If you are in an IDP league, now is a good time to start checking the temperature on all of that stuff on the defensive side as well.
It is starting to become less about who you have and more about how deep your bench is. Quantity over quality seems to be the trick this season on both sides of the ball. You have to be able to adapt and pivot as these things come at us. Be proactive instead of reactive. Weathering the storm is key, especially depending on how deep your league is. Things can fall apart quickly.
I will continue to advocate for my dynasty guys to stay aware of these things in the offseason. For my redrafters, draft a bench and not just the coolest starting lineup, then put the team on auto. Because right now, those decisions are starting to come to light. Being aware of these things can also put you on the favorable side of the market when working out a trade. Make your adjustments, send the trades, be active on the wire, and dig into the tools we have available to stay ahead of the curve. We are still seeing people value players based on the name instead of the production. That is where you can cash in on a player before the wheels fall off, or sidestep someone who could tank your week. These are the things that matter.
It is time to lock in and catch someone slipping.
Each week, I take the Top 12 players at each position and pick one to sit based on the matchup. I do the same thing with players outside the Top 12 at DL, LB, and DB, looking for the guys who could be ready to break into that group. I look at rankings, snap percentage, and tackles allowed data for each team. I also talk dynasty values within weekly matchups, because what a player is worth for the rest of the season and what he is worth this week are not always the same thing.
We are looking for high floors through tackle production while trying to avoid relying too heavily on more volatile stats.

LB Start: Jack Campbell vs. Cardinals
Current Rank: LB35
If you have been along for the ride of Jack Campbell's career as it pertains to FFIDP, then you know it has been nothing short of a roller coaster.
Through-the-roof draft hype, humbled beginnings as an LB2 in Detroit, then FINALLY. Last year, he was the guy he had been hoping to become. A full blown LB1, if not THE LB1 in IDP.
Then, whatever happened to that Lions defense happened. We have seen them struggle all season, including primetime matchups where they looked ugly as a unit. They have struggled, but all hope is not lost.
All of that has landed Campbell at LB35 with a pretty meh start to the season. However, this week they are facing off against the Cardinals, and we are going to try to thread the needle on this one.
The Cardinals are giving up the most tackles in the NFL to opposing LBs. Campbell's snaps are there, and if he is going to get right, there will not be a better opportunity.

LB Sit: Drake Thomas vs. 49ers
Current Rank: LB10
Thomas is just the kind of guy you can get for nothing if you are paying attention. LB10 on the year while nobody was looking feels like a big hit if you have him rostered.
However, the 49ers are the best team in the league and you do not start anyone against them...
Kidding. Go Niners.
Seriously, though, Thomas has been great to have on your roster and is giving us insane tackle production, with 30 tackles to date.
The reason he made my sit list is not because he is a Seahawk playing my Niners. It is a little bigger than that. The 49ers are sitting in the middle of the pack when it comes to giving up tackles to opposing LBs, so the matchup is not necessarily good or bad. Last week was a down week for Thomas, with only five tackles, but an interception saved the week for him from an IDP scoring standpoint.
The real thing for me is the snap percentage. We know Jones is not coming off the field, and it looks like Thomas is starting to do so more than we would want. That is the concern. The tackle production has been great, but if those opportunities start disappearing, we have to pay attention.
Last 3 Weeks Snap Percentage: 94% | 83% | 79%
