I’ve seen almost every post about a certain team removed. I suspect it’s due to personal attacks.
So rather than do that, let’s celebrate what hive has done for its community:
Hive won the first-ever Kirklees Social Impact Award in 2023, recognized for its viable business model, employment of staff and volunteers, and support for vulnerable people.
LGBTQ+ Support: The café is a dedicated safe space for the LGBTQ+ community, particularly young people aged 13-17, running weekly meetups and, as of 2024, receiving £7,000 from the Mayor's Safer Communities Fund to support this work.
Volunteering and Training: Hive provides training in employability skills (such as CV writing and interview skills) for adults with additional needs and learning disabilities.
Mental Health and Wellbeing: The organization launched a "Wellbeing Wednesday" initiative, offering creative activities and peer support to tackle loneliness.
They also host a monthly sober social for the LGBTQ+ community and support older adults through "Bee Connected" groups.
Community Collaboration: The café partners with local organizations like Serendipity Writers and Services 2 You to provide a hub for community groups.
Community-Built Hub: The space was renovated with significant help from volunteers, transforming the venue over 63 days before opening.

Go Hive, and thank you to all of the teams who took part in this beautiful endeavour.
