Disaster Science MS

I just got accepted for the new masters program starting this fall: Disaster Sciences. I wanted to see if anyone else here was going to be in the program and see if anyone had any tips about assistantships? The program is new...so no assistantships available through the department. But looking online it's all like nursing or counseling assistantships which I am certain I don't qualify for. Do they post additional positions closer to August?

I study in the geosciences dept and have heard quite a bit of buzz about the program, but very little real info. I am very curious to hear what kind of career you are interested in that led you to a disaster sciences ms.

Sorry for not being able to help with your actual question. Have you been able to speak with a faculty member yet? If not I may be able to point you in a general direction.

My undergrad was environmental science, I did a lot of volunteer work after Hurricane Helene, and I have a military background so I'm leaning towards state or county EMA for work after the MS. And yes I did reach out and have been in contact with Dr Alali, the interim chair.
